User Rating: 8.6 | Final Fantasy X-2 PS2
FFX-2 isn't your typical Final Fantasy, but rightfully so, it holds it's own against many other RPGs in the market and thanks in large part to it's fast paced and exciting combat system.

Square's FFX-2 does away with the strict turn based system seem in FFX, and does a hell of a job creating a fast paced and exciting atmosphere every fight you delve in. For the sake of keeping this review short, I'll break down the rating categories:

Gameplay in this game is, on the grand scheme of things, superb. The classic ATB system is implemented with a sick twist on things that puts you right in the middle of the action. It's innovative (to some degree), very unique system makes it simply fun to level up in FFX-2.

The Graphics summed up in one word: good. Nothing much to say really. I mean, graphics have always been good with every installment in this franschise, and they do a good job standing out once again in FFX-2. We still get the beautiful CG cutscenes we're all so fond of from previous Final Fantasy titles.

Music and Sound FX are very well done in this game. Uematsu never fails to produce and he produces once more. Voice acting to lyp synch ratio is much better than the sloppy results we got in FFX, and that's a big step up. Overall, sound is very solid.

Replay value, with the new percentage system, is initially higher than most other games. The need for us to go through the game again and again and again to hit that 100% we ached so hard for, makes this games replay value an instant hit. One thing that detracts from it's replay value is the story which I found failry weak compared to that of FFX, and since this is a sequel, I wasn't surprised (most sequels don't accel).

Due to lack of good story, I will dock this game marks on my tilt, but other than that, this game hits the roof with it's great, fun atmosphere and it's a good change of pace - a new pace much needed to get us away from our typical FF games to something totally new - FFX-2 is a must buy for FF fans, but more so FFX fans.
