I'm currently replaying this classic. Though The graphics are actually better on an old tube TV then a HDTV with any sort of size.

But this game has it all, its an Expansive world with dozens of mini-games, at least a hundred hours of main and side missions.
Dozens upon dozens of secret areas. I've never felt more rewarded then when I crushed my first weapon, bread my first black, and then golden Chocobo.

The story, though simple absolutely engages the player and makes you emotionally attached to the characters.

I clearly worship this game even going back now appreciate everything about it. the training you need to do to beat the boss just down the road, the mini-games, the constant search for better equipment and materia. most of all the satisfaction from killing the major bosses, weapons, and even sephiroth.
