Don't waste your life.....Play this game.

Let's face it, most Final Fantasy games are way too linear and lack so many elements to should necessitate being in the "Role Playing" genre. If it were up to me, these games would have a genre of their own -- Interactive Story Book.

You walk in a straight line, you're told where to go/what to do, and the game is essentially at a dead stand still until you do; you get there, push the correct sequence of buttons, and watch the aformentioned "story" unfold. Sometimes, it does even when get don't get the sequence correct who knows.

This game posed absolutely no challenge whatsoever, including the optional bosses.

BUT...

Speaking of story books -- This game had hands down the best storyline I will probably ever encounter in my life. One of those stories that make you think "ya know, if I didn't know right off the top of my head this was total b.s. I'd swear it made perfect sense." I've even thought to myself "When I die, I'm going to Midgar."

The storyline, the music, and when's the last time a boss in a video game had a cult following? Both in the game, and in real life? Hrmm. Unbelievable.

Yes cult following -- I believe this was the game that put RPG's on the map and made RPG a household term. I guess that's pretty much the main thing I didn't like about this game -- the following that it received. Suddenly, everyone and their dog is all about "oh hell yah, I LOVE RPG's that's my thing!" and I grimace everytime I read blogs about who you think the hardest FF boss is, and 90% of the answers are "Emerald Weapon." ....um...Ok so obviously you've not played many Final Fantasy games. If you want a real challenge, try 5, or 3.

Anyway, bottom line -- it was an overall beautiful experience. There will always be room on my shelf and in my heart for this game.
