Yup. I had a dream before we knew she was pregnant that we were going to have a daughter named Aerith, so as soon as we found out it was a girl a went for it and she agreed.

That's cool and all, but you're really gonna have to think of a normal sounding nickname to avoid all that "terrible parents giving their kids terrible names for terrible reasons" backlash.

"Aerith" doesn't sound that bad. Similar names have popped up in other games (*cough*"Ailyth"*cough*).

i doubt the kids will know the name came from a game thats 25+ years old by the time shes grown up. And Aerith isn't as popular a character as tifa, cloud and sephiroth.

There's no reason for "Aerith" to be blocked by the law. It's not completely idiotic, unlike those other names. It'd be like banning "Vincent".

Oh right .. big jugs .. I forgot.
Well, I admit I had thoughts of naming my future daughters various characters' names .. and as much as I love Aerith, I wouldn't name a child that.
Give her a nickle everytime somebody misspells her name, makes fun of her having been stabbed (I'm looking at you, Sephiroth Jr!) and such .. she'll be a millionaire by the time she hits puberty.

Thanks! Yup, it definitely is true, I'm glad someone appreciates it! And don't worry, if I cared about people trying to trash me for my decision I never would have posted it, I was just interested in who would like it, and how vehemently people would oppose it.
Someone else said it too, by the time she grows up most people her age will have never even played an FF game let alone get the reference. I just hope someone local doesn't have the idea to name their kid Sephiroth, I might have to Omnislash him preemptively!
