Better than Spirts Within....
The story ses Cloud, he isin´t with his friends anymore and is a delivery boy, but then a stigma (some kind of diease) infects some people, a group of 3 people takes the children and turn them evil, while atempting to be with thier mother (Jenova), and Cloud is the only one who can stop them, typical anime plot then.
When i mean a typical, i mean that the plot is ok, but not great. Characters like Barret, Yuffie & Cid are having a minor role in the whole movie. Which means the movie focuses closely on Cloud, Tifa and some other characters. The movie might also feel a little short, sure it´s 1 hour and 41 mins long, but you´ll feel it´s over to quickly when the movie is over.
The movie´s actions scene are the best part of the movie, it´s the typical Matrix style of action scenes you´ll see in the film, but they are good enough to rival the action scenes in Hollywood blockbuster movies.
The video quality is very beautiful, the CG that´s used in the movie is really life like, and the characters movements are done really well.
The same goes for the sound quality, the rock soundtrack sounds really good and so do the sound effects.
The movie has a English and Japanese voice track, and suprisingly, the english voice tracks is good, unlike other movies that´s dubbed to english from japanese since they always have some famous actors to do the voice work. That said, the japanese track is better though.
The movie´s extras are nothing special. You can see what happened in Final Fantasy VII although the presentation is as good as the movie itself.
Besides that, there´s some making off footage, game trailers for other Final Fantasy VII games (all of them have been posted in the internet long before the movie´s release) and 11 short and pointless deleted scenes. (I´m not sure if there´s any extra in the UMD version though, since i´m reviewing the DVD version)
Overall Final Fantasy VII Advent Children is way better than Spirts Within, and better than the others movie´s based on games (excluding Silent Hill). This is a great move nevertheless that evey fan of FFVII should see, and others should see it too.
