I'm not expecting much from this game...I expected FF XIII to be really good, and look where that got me.
So, for those of you who did not know. This specific game was announced in 2006, and has been in production since then. They hit a bump and remade the game almost from scratch because the director changed. Now if you have ever played Kingdom Hearts you might have noticed that the combat system is very similar, and that is because this game has the same director as Kingdom Hearts. And he is the reason the game has been delayed so much. Now they made a plan to release it in Fall 2013, but before that it was Spring 2013, and before that Fall 2012 etc.. But it does look like it is coming to a conclusion. Fortunately the "cancellation" scare was false and the game goes on, but it could still be a while. But it will be good, I have the up most confidence in it.
1 Like why god why!!!!!!!! why cant games be what they used to be! games back in the day were challenging. you would spend weeks or even months trying to beat the game but you would get so frustrated that you would quit playing for a month or two and then beat it because you realized how bored you were that day! what the hell happened !!!!! but this looks great i cant wait i hope it makes up for 13 cause that was a abomination.
This looks great can't wait for it to finally come out. Personally I liked final fantasy x more than IIV so i don't understand why they want a remake that just seems like a dumb idea and games have to evolve or else where stuck with stuff like call of duty a company thats willing to experiment is well worth a little bit of interest if they stayed with what the consumers wanted instead of them complaining on how one specific version of there games wasnt as well made as another they would be complaining how the game never changes and its the same thing every year.
@blackwing55 We are stuck on Call Of Duty games because they were epic stories and had moments that people loved, and even they screwed up the series. MW3 is a horrible game that got horrible reviews. Hopefully Black Ops 2 can revive the series. Its tough to evolve with the customer because we want the same but different, which makes no sense what so ever but is true about us. Halo, FF, COD, Assassins Creed, even Mario are all victim to this formula. They have yet to produce a amazing RPG on the new systems that will match the golden age of the SNES/PSX/PS2 RPG era. maybe its the better the graphics and game engine has become the RPG suffers. 16bit rpgs left so much to the imagination. IDK what the answer is for the series but they need to figure it out cause I need my fix. And I'm left wanting.
2 Like They said they would only remake FF VII when one of the FF games breaks its records in sales....sadly i think they are getting farther from that dream. Square has gotten a big head since their golden age in the 90s, but they are sticking to what makes the asian market happy. they have lost touch to what we loved in the games, and made it what they think we will love cause they will never get it wrong. This formula hasnt worked for SEGA, Playstaion (pspgo/vita) and so on. SO IF YOU WANNA MAKE IT ANOTHER 10 YEARS GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF YOUR *** and get with the program...thank you lol
Square Enix really needs to just pull the plug on FF i mean the series is dead. I knoe square can come up with way better new stories and series than this dying breed. Its old and its boring time for something new square....**yawn**
@niteryder1 i think the problem is the cinematics are way too over the top now, and slows the gameplay down a lot. and the whole japanese culture is not as great in translation. the older FF games were great cause they were 8bit and simple, easier to translate and made alot more to the story. Now they just make it like watching a movie and playing little scenes. here and there. The aspects that made them great were the open world, epic but not too over the top cutscenes, the great moments (i.e. aris dying, terra changing, switching to the other world, ceceil changing to paladin, etc...) they all died a while back. Now all we get are cheesy anime that losses translation bad and light if any gameplay.
@mikeesco In Japan thats how most games are made and played which is why they are not ported to america. American games have the same affect in Japan they do poorly because the people are not exceptionally intrested into that sort of game. One of the most popular types of game there is Visual novels which have almost no gameplay if any and its completely story based.
@blackwing55 @mikeesco yea but none of these current FF games have any of the same attributes as FF VII, which was the best selling game in the whole series, and that's in Japan and America, that's what i am saying. They attract the Asian market, but not the American, which was the basis of my argument. If they don't figure out a way to appease us and the Asian market then they will never break that record, which means we are stuck with the same FF games we have been seeing.
They seem to really be pushing a certain style and look and I just don't think its working. One of these days a final fantasy is going to come out and blow peoples minds and redefine the genre. Face it though old school rpg's as they used to be are gone forever.

your right... they are gone, ever since ff7( not saying ff8 sucked ), but its, its been down hill for ff series IMO...and that was ps1, since then nothing really major or iconic.
Theres been good games, but thats all they've been , good games. nothing that stands next to the old school legends, no need to name em' gamers know what im talking about... real shame.
I still have hope :P

Its all about the near death experience they had, and that they know see the light of the Goddess Etro shining on them, giving them the ability to use the power of the dead, etc.
Hope you like it, its a promising game! It will the best FF yet, no disrespecting 7, and the others =D
i'm a big fan of FF series. so so sad what's happening to them now. :( they should change the whole dev team. find some good dev team like naughty dog or something.

2 Like Wish people would quit there bitching about how it looks way too much like kingdom hearts. Just because its real time action doesnt mean its just gonna be like kingdom hearts. In my personal opinion i think that its great that there finally changing things up with final fantasy, XIII and XIII-2 were not that great nor were they that bad but most people need to learn is that a game isn't going to stay the same just cause they want it to it doesn't work like that.
2 Like A lot of people are acting like this is a final fantasy game, but really it seems as though it is a kingdom hearts game at heart. And I think that's a good thing. Final Fantasy has been a dead series for some time now, mostly I think due to the fact that the game has had some serious aging. Kingdom Hearts is really the living legacy of Final Fantasy, taking it's fundamental elements and forming an action-rpg that still maintains it's compelling story-line and strong cast of characters. If you pay close attention, the Kingdom Hearts team actually took a lot of hints from the chrono series, in my opinion square's greatest games to date. For those of you who don't already know, the kingdom hearts team has been hard at work on this game for years and years. We should consider ourselves lucky that such a fantastic team is behind this game. I have full faith in you guys.
@ayhokkuu If it was a kingdom hearts game it would be called kingdom hearts. I agree though it's a good thing the kingdom hearts team is working on it. Final fantasy has been shit since square enix came into existence. Honestly though I think this game might end up being canceled. They haven't released ANY new information on the game in years and whenever they are asked by reporters how the game is coming along they say "we have no new information at the time" and that's all they ever say. So either they're keeping stuff really secret or they haven't been working on it.

If this trailer is supposed to make you want to buy the game then I think SE have big problems?
As a long time FF fan I hated this trailer.
The one shown on YouTube however did at least make the fight sequences look decent, although a bit too "Mortal Combat" for my tastes, though it did seem to have done away with the Active Time battle system which I think is a big plus point in it's favour.
With all the delays and rumours of the release being on and off, I fear this game like Diablo III will be a major disappointment and not live up to the anticipation!
I really hope I am proven wrong!
