They did it for 1, 2, & 4, yet for whatever reason they skipped 3.

Oh Square just loves going back to their older games. I dunno if I would say it'll happen soon, but it'll happen one day.

I wantFFIII, FFV and FFVI to get 2D HD remakes but unfortunately they haven't (yet) I didn't think IV was going to get one because the FFIV 3D remake came out not that long before it.

But, I think them wanting to get more sales on the After Years was why they did it. It would be too much work to remake the After Years and the new interlude in 3D the DS cartridge couldn't fit all of it, so they decided to just go the HD sprite route and put it on PSP and then package it with FFIV to increase likelihood of ales.

Sadly, I think FFV and FFVI will get 3DS remakes instead of the HD sprite ones. Square Enix mentioned two years ago that they originally planned to do those two for the DS but technical issues stopped them but that future handhelds with more power wasn't out of the question.

The ultimate treat would be having the first 6 FF games with HD sprites and have them in one complete collection.
