GAMEPLAY ~
+Positives+
This game wasn't like many others of its time. mainly cause it wasn't a FF title. This is a Romancing SaGa game. They labeled it FFL so it would sell better in America, those Japanese... so smart! Anyway its a random battle fix, the enemies are labeled in groups, and spells and weapons are designed to focus on a group or enemy so it all levels out! This was the first game to introduce the "monster" character and system! This was the coolest thing! When you beat a monster and it leaves it's "MEAT" behind you could become that monster (or a similar monster around that level) by eating it! The Robot was as well a cool addition to this title. By the games end it has massive Atk. and Def. depending on what you equip it with! It's upgrades were only limited to what you wanted to give em! The other 2 characters are Humans and Mutants! Humans are more physical, Mutants more magical. And throughout the quest you get powerful "extra" characters at your disposal who assist with combat and moving the storyline along.

Your weapons break, this sucked, but thankfully most weapons had a long life to em and by 5 you should have bought a new weapon! The monster evolving thing was cool, but until half-way through the game, the monster is quite useless (yet still fun to look at!). The enemies are hard! Some come in groups of 8! So you just gotta be prepared! LEVEL UP!
STORY~
Your father left when you were younger and now the Hero seeks to find him and discover the secrets behind the MAGI left to your protection!
GRAPHICS ~
Eh, its an original GB title, nothing fancy. For its time it was fantastic... but alas, it doesn’t stand the test of time... shameful really, cause if you look past em, this was an exciting and original title for a system not to big on creativity.
SOUND ~
Superb! The music was catchy and worth a listen! Very hard to find MP3's of this stuff but if you ever run across any, listen to "Burning Blood"! I must have listened to this track a million times throughout the game and I still hear it in my head to this day!
REPLAYAVILIY ~
It's a long game... very long! Devote some time to it Give it some TLC and you will come out a better person! But after its done, its done, sorry, you can't backtrack! So... Kill Apollo for me! Cause he was a tough as adamant nails!
OVERALL ~
If you are bored with high graphic rendering GBA and are looking to go old school, try FFL2! You can get it for around 8 beans at EB or GameStop! I re-bought it and haven't been disappointed yet!
