The foundation of most RPGs! For those who call games like this dated must've started playing RPGs post-FFVII
My Breakdown:
What's Good (FFI):
- Excellent port of the 16 bit version to the GBA
- The variety of job selections in the beginning gives the opportunity to create a well rounded team
- Sets the foundation for the FF series
-*SPOILER* Nice plot twist by making the first boss the actual final boss...very symbolic of the "time loop" he causes. *END SPOILER*
What's Not-So-Good (FFI):
- I've never been a fan of the "silent protagonist" thing
- Lack of character development. They never do tell you were the warriors of light come from or how they came to be (I smell a good prequal)
What's Bad (FFI):
- Some of the bosses from the newer FF do seem to be a bit much for the limited abilities and battle system of this game. Especially the superbosses from FFV. But that may have been the original idea of the challenge...

What's Good (FFII)
- Excellent port of the 16 bit version to the GBA
- The first attempt at character development...and not a bad one.
- Plenty of guest party members through out the game
- Nice addition to the game with the Soul of Rebirth spin off
What's Not-So-Good (FFII)
- Personally, I would like to know how the empire got so strong and where the Emperor get his demonic powers from.
- The battle system is unique but I prefer my stat increase and weapon damage to come from leveling up (but it doesn't completely ruin the game like a lot of people claim)
What's Bad (FFII)
- *SPOILER* How much of a no good bastard Leon turns out to be *END SPOILER*
In all, this is a great compilation of the games that started it all and true RPG fans should be able to not only appreciate the games but also their new content.
