User Rating: 8.4 | Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles (w/Game Boy Advance cable) GC
Regardless of the incentives to play the game in Multiplayer, I bought Crystal Chronicles understanding that I'll likely just be playing it in Single Player mode. Thus far, I haven't been disappointed. That's because my primary motivation was for the sheer potential Squaresoft level craftsmanship implemented in the game, and Crystal Chronicles has that in spades. The game is highly stylized and implemented graphically in such a way only the finest game developers in the business could pull off, and there's many scenes that can make even a jaded gamer such as myself stop and say "Wow". While the style is a little sappy, it's extremely well pulled off, as I knew it would be. The gameplay mechanics in single player mode are simple, but very well defined and with a level of depth that is bit deeper than Gauntlet or Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. (Haven't tried Champions of Norrath yet.)
