Old School RPG - I still enjoy them

User Rating: 9 | Final Fantasy PSP

Since 1997 (or around the release of Final Fantasy VII), I have been hooked onto the series. FF VII was the first one I played and there has been no looking back. The game was brilliant and instrumental in me becoming an RPG addict, especially FF series.

Hence, it is strange that I play the first part of this colossal franchise in 2014 :)

On to the game, it was nice to play... very basic and simple. Unlike FF games from later in the series, this one ended in less that 35 hours. No summons, chocobos etc. but fun nonetheless.

Fighting is classic turn based. Some of the boss fights can be tough if you have been dodging the leveling up process.

As this is a spruced up version, it contains a few FMVs for additional beautification but with no impact to gameplay. One of the best features on the PSP was that I was able to save the game virtually anywhere and didn't have to rely on specific save points.

All-in-all this was a fun game and a must play for fans of classic RPGs and FF series.
