Fighting Steel will NEVER be considered a "sim" there are too man compromises with it, however considering when it was made and state of graphics at the time, this game was/is truly innovative. You can play the game one of several ways. You can "Sing Up" and Captain a ship or series of ships from any of the Major combatant countrys through the entire war. Or you can place any of the single mission games like Hood vs. Bismark etc... Lastly, you can play the game in "what if" mode and make mythical large or small scale battles in the Atlantic or the Pacific. For example, what would've happened had the Italians, Germans and captured French fleets combiined and sallied forth against the might of the British Home Fleet. Here you can play that out, here you can fiight it out for yourself. Being a WWII bug and a military historian I was able to look past the physical flaws of the game and concentrate on what it was giving me, a great deal of fun for very little investment.
