Though Fight Night Round 4 has some great qualities, I can't help but notice its faults.

User Rating: 8.5 | Fight Night Round 4 PS3
As a big fan of the entire Fight Night series, I was pretty excited for Fight Night Round 4. After thoroughly playing the game however, I was somewhat disappointed with what the final product of this game was.

One of the things I did appreciate about this game was the graphics. They look very nice and EA gives each boxer plenty of detail to make the fight look as real as possible. The physics go nicely with this, as your punches will bounce off your opponent's chin and ribs with stunning realism, even the sweat flies off in realistic trajectories! The physics help top off the pretty fantastic gameplay of FNR4. I'm a big fan of the controls in this game, and they feel even smoother then they did in previous games.

There are several things I was unhappy about with this game though as well. The character creation problem was what I first noticed. Instead of being able to customize a new face from scratch you have two choices: you can upload a picture of yourself or you can pick from one of the pre-made heads already in the game. The problem with this is that he pre-made heads are very realistic and if you don't want to upload your own picture then you no longer have a choice. Another small problem that goes along with this is that you can't change your boxers hair (regular or facial) after you finish character creation. This is a small problem but a frustration nonetheless.

Another problem I noticed was with training your boxer. Most of the training games in FNR4 are very difficult, especially when starting a new career. This is problematic because unless you get your boxer the full benefit of each training session, your boxer's rating fall far behind the rating of other closely ranked boxers.

With these faults in mind, Fight Night Round 4 is still a pretty solid game. If you're interested in buying this game however, I recommend playing the demo and considering these faults first.
