Fight Night Round 3 User Review

- The Bottom Line:
- "Almost, but not quite"
First off, every fighting game should be based on this control style. I wish a ufc game will come out with this formula.
Using the analog stick for controlling your punches and movement is great and immersive instead of the un- feeling button mashing.
The graphics are great yet the blood stream is so ridiculous, I want to slap whoever thought that that looked good. If they couldn't do it right, stick with the blood mist of 2.
Career mode: What happened here, why the big change? You don't know what rank you are in, you can't change weight classes whenever you want. You are unable to choose entry music or ring girls like the 2nd. I thought that was a fun part of it. The people you fight just appear to be random and you are unable to track their progress.
Another huge disappoint to me is that you are fighting for the belt, get the belt yet you always come into the ring first with no cool entry fireworks, the same entry music and no mention what so ever of owning the belt. Even the title screen says you are 'trying to make a name for himself'. WTF is that about, I have the belt, what more do people want from me!?
That is the nail in the coffin in that career is thrown together with random people, no ranking system. The achievements are not that great. There is no online achievement that also puts a damper on wanting to take your skills online.
With all that negativity, I love the control style and presentation however fight night 3 is a step backwards.
Was it rushed to meet a deadline? Let's hope 4 doesn't follow this ranking system of not caring if you have a belt or not.

The game itself is really fun...boxing action at its greatest. One problem: It gets old in a hurry.
