- The Bottom Line:
- "Almost, but not quite"
I've played Fight Night for the Xbox 360 a while back with a buddy of mine, we had a blast, though our hands was about to fall off by the time we were finished, but the entertainment values was well worth it. So when I found this game at Gamestop for the PSP for $17 I said, why not.
The PSP hasn't been a diamond in the rough when it comes to gaming, it's been pretty disappointing in fact, but Fight Night actually worked fairly well on this gaming system. The graphics are nice, and the game seems fairly deep. The problem is, the same thing that plague all the other games on this system, and that is the controls. The controls are very hard to use, with the analog stick being so low on the device it's very hard to use, and because there are more punches and defenses then control buttons, you have a ridiculous number of combo controls, some that are almost impossible to do without having large hands.
If you get pass that, and learn a reasonably number of combo buttons, this is a reasonably fun game to play, but until Sony make a PSP with dual controls, or at the very least move the analog stick higher, games like this will only be a passing fad.
