A fairly well rounded venture...

I am fairly new to boxing games. Actually I'm fairly new to most any sports game. I will say however that the Fight Night series of games has definately captured my attention.

There are a lot of things to like about Fight Night Round 3, most of which seem to be very subtle upgrades over Round 2. Something that bothered me about it at the outset was how much more sluggish your fighter felt when trying to execute haymakers and flash ko's. It was fairly dissapointing especially when you compare it to Round 2's blinding speed. HOWEVER, I was most surprised to find that after playing straight through Round 3, that Round 2 didn't seem to play as fluidly, so in a sorts the subtlty of the updated fighting speed in Round 3 really kind of snuck up on me.

After you get the hang of the controls and master the various strategies on hand, fighting feels both natural and fluid. It's incredibly gratifying when you land a well earned punch or haymaker, or even when you've put your opponent onto the canvas in the first ten second of the match due to a well placed stun punch or flash K.O.

One thing I would like to see from this series of games is a bit more organization in the fight store. Sifting through row after row of gloves, shoes, shorts and accessories gets to be tedious in it's current form.

Another small complaint is the small not to mention poor selection of music. I know EA likes to use their EX Trax setup in their games, but they really should give you the option to use custom soundtracks or at least put a mixed soundtrack for the sake of variety. Though hip hop is just fine, not everyone (myself included) cares for it, nor should it be assumed that the only people who play sports games like hip hop.

It would seem like I've listed a large number of complaints, but in all actuallity I've listed the very few and very minute things wrong with the game! Everything else is top notch. This game deserves the accolades it is recieving.
