FIFA World Cup: Germany 2006 is by far my favorite so far, right in front of FIFA 10.
At first the game looks fairly dated and gives the feeling of a lacking game. After you choose your favorite team and actually play your first match the player will realize its more than what it seems.
The graphics... yes, they are a bit dated and if you've played a newer version of FIFA the camera is a bit different too, But that's not very hard to adjust to. The animation of the ball and players is also a bit glitchy but is hardly noticeable unless you stare at the object directly and look for them. The controls can be hard at times but is fairly easy to adapt to as well. I found the game to be a fairly easy game... unless you turn up the setting from the default setting.
The content of the game is amazing. In other FIFA games it has a few different game modes as does this one. You can play Global mode which has you play key moments in World cup history. It forces you to get out of your favorites and use other teams while working for an object in the match. Of course you are rewarded for how well you play with medals, to attempt to beat you last performance. It also has a few other ways to play. World cup and preliminaries. Where you choose up to 8 teams on any set of teams (Africa, Europe, Asia... Etc) and work your way up to the World cup... which keeps you busy if you want to put the time in or just enjoy playing FIFA games.
The part I was the most disappointed with was the achievements. The game does only give you five when it obviously could have had room for more. But the achievements are obtainable fairly easy if you have the time for them and it looks good when you have a whole games achievements... even if there's only 5.
If you just enjoy the game like I do the game has a form of in game achievements. These go by your performance and give out points for your personal record, and has other forms of the point system achievements for completion.
A few other few bits I found unique were the passports, magazines and being able to track all the teams. The passport simply keeps track of what teams you beat, stamping a page with the losing countries own unique stamp. The magazine is a file of sorts given to you after a certain point which tells you who has the most red cards yellow cards and lists all the countries ranking. This ties in with Tracking the teams, which is all just simply seeing the progress of each teams wins, loses, draws, goals etc.
So overall The game has its ups and downs, but you have to remember it is an older game that's even out on older platforms like ps2 and GBA. It has yet to bore me after a week of owning it and Is a great game to own after your current FIFA game loses its luster. Whether you've played a newer FIFA or just started playing, this game is a great game to play and should keep you fairly busy.

For an older game this was certainly a surprise. Possibly the most fun Ive had with a FIFA game in a while.
