Why is it that as the years go by we grow more and more used to getting a Fifa soccer xx and a Fifa world cup game for the same year? Well, the answer is simple and every body knows it, MONEY. EA would gladly milk us dry if it could, but all this affirmations are in no way rating the game at hand. The thing is that this little equation involving money that I just mention is the main reason why EA hasn’t been able to deliver in my opinion a stellar Fifa game in quite some time.

Despite all this information that I have been saying in all my recent Fifa reviews, 2006 Fifa Road to World Cup is one of the better games I’ve played. It really managed to impress me not precisely because of the gameplay, but because of the ton of additions in terms of content it has. The gameplay as usual has been getting better little by little and 2006 gives us a good soccer match. The graphics look a little more polished than its same year counterpart and the music as always is superb. I managed to get a little bit of a slow down when the game had a lot of players on screen at the same time.

Then, what content was I talking about? Simple, EA managed to get a lot right, in terms of schedule and teams from around the globe, its road to world cup is actually a little more exciting to play because of the managerial aspect that EA implemented. The ranking system also adds a bit to the mix and it gives you a feeling that the rest of the world is actually playing their matches at the same time. There is still room to grow, but I am fairly pleased with this new entry to the Road to World cup edition, if only we finally where able to get it all in the same package, leagues national teams and a career mode that expands to more than one world cup at a time. How sweet it would be.
