FIFA Street is back but is a newfound sense of realism enough for it to take home the trophy? Find out in our video review.

Bought it, trying to love it, but it is so frustrating on the Hard difficulty. Not because it's actually hard, but because the difficulty is so artificial, like when you beat a player, the engine will create some kind of invisible wall so you cant get the ball back before they get back up and get it themselves. It's FIFA 12 Impact Engine at it's worse, it was even mentioned in this review, and is a common complaint on the forums. It's just super cheap and EA need to do better cause this sort of CPU "cheating" on higher difficulties is always in their sports games.

@PayneKiller I have to agree as well about artificial difficulty, that is one thing that really bothers me.  However, Fifa Street is nothing but pure, unadulterated joy when played locally and almost as much fun online.  There isn't much depth but when a game is this much fun, you don't need artificial incentives to pick up the game and pop it in the tray.

Totally agree the cpu cheating on harder difficulty is in all there sports games and really enoying. EA stop with the cheap and make it more realistic.

If you can put up with a frustrating game then go ahead and buy this. What he failed to mention was that the AI in the game is poor. It's like you teammates are always set on easy/medium and the CPU is on Hard all the time. I've also had issues with the game not responding to me. A number of times my player just sits and stares at the ball while I'm sitting there telling him to run. So yea there are a number of issues that need to be fixed and it doesn't seem like they are going to do anything about it. So have fun with FIFA Street....

Picked it up this afternoon... not a fan of the yearly FIFA titles, but this is great fun. Dont regret spending a penny of the $40 I spent on it. I can suggest this game to ANYONE.

@The9thinning - is there more camera views in the full game? or at least an option 2 zoom it a bit...loved the demo but thought the camera was a bit far from the action. @PinnacleGamingP why would u think this should b part of FIFA12...it's STREET football mate. Jus coz the graphics are now similar don't mean it's the same thing.

It's futsal not foohtsarl. Played the demo, cant wait to get the real thing. Previous street games were ok but way too over the top for soccer. That style was more suited to basketball than the world game.

@STrugglingFool Your logic is utterly baffling. If we further your argument more we'd have Aussies reviewing John Madden and random Mexicans off the street to do NHL.

@STrugglingFool Considering Americans don't know a thing about football (that's the real game of football, not your cop-out where you don't even kick the damn ball 99% of the time) I'd much rather have an English reviewer, especially seeing as THIS IS GAMESPOT UK.

Great review. And yes, I am taking my ass off the pro pitch in FIFA 12 and spend some time in the streets. I enjoyed the demo so much, so why not? This seems to be worth the full price. Even more considering the fact FIFA Street is not a yearly game unlike the regular FIFA.

Am I the only one that misses the old FIFA Street. I like the cartoony, unrealistic, flashy tricks. If I want real, I'll play FIFA dang it. Bring back the unrealistic antics of the old.

Muskeljens

Surprised at the high score. The game is fun, tricks are smooth and multiplayer is good. But the game feels unfinished, and I'm surprised it was released like this. -Sound effects are REALLY cheap and sound unpolished. I'm not a stickler for sound effects, but this really stood out for me. -Teammate AI is useless. It offers no support and even with the "street style attack" offers very few creative runs. And when on defence they never press, meaning you have to manually change players to press, and on higher difficulties this means you are almost defenseless at times due to the high speed of the attacking play. -Goalkeepers are HORRIBLE. Even at max stats they are unagile and generally dimwitted. I'm not expecting them to save all shots, but their animations make them useless. -I've gotten my players stuck on the pitch(and outside the pitch on one of the maps!). in a 2v2 match one of my players got stuck outside the pitch, behind a fence so I had only one player to use for about a minute. -Opponent AI sometimes feels cheap on Hard setting, mostly because none of your own AI player press or offer any support, neither in attack nor defense. The clumsy changing of players to try to control a player who might be able to press/tackle the opponent takes so long(because of the high pace of the attackers) that you rarely defend yourself with any dignity. @STrugglingFool is right on the money. But again; A fun game, but a 6.5 seems fair to me.

Will definitely check out a demo, been getting into regular FIFA with friends lately and FIFA Street looks like it could be a lot of fun. That talk of grinding annoys me though.

Ok, time for a new NBA Street! How about it, EA?

STrugglingFool
STrugglingFool

I' am surprised he doesn't talk about the lack of your own teammates AI. They back paddle until they are in the goal(exaggerated). You will find yourself yelling at the defence (not that they can hear you) because they keep backing up. Playing on hard is near impossible, I had one Player when he had the ball he scored every shot he took and I mean every time by the time the game was over it was 14-1. I rented this game for PS3. I suggest to anyone who isn't sure, to rent and see for yourself. By the way putting a Brit to do the video review not the best, since their national sport is Soccer(Football). Thank you

Hmm I'll get it when the price goes down. Not worth $60 though

Skill based games that don't require you to step up your play in order to complete them will never be taken seriously by me. This game is what I've been waiting for the series to be since the first one all those years ago.

Many of these tricks are very possible, there are even competitiond of tricks, altought it's very rare for them to be made in a game, they are a little more common in futsal.
