Relive the magic of FIFA

User Rating: 9.2 | FIFA Football 2002 PS2
Dusting down this old PS2 copy on another rainy day in England I retired to the bedroom to test this old game. Four years ago and I was immediately hit by the teams, so different and players that have moved elsewhere, I was hard pressed to find someone who actually played football for their same team four years down the line. Ipswich Town, Derby County, Leicester City? All down a league through relegations, my has the days changed.
Oh sorry back to the game.

Graphics: Blocky, zoomed out camera angles and awkward close ups of 32 bit players celebrating madly. Yes this is a PS1 version Nuggets, but oh it is so damn dated and so damn ugly!

Gameplay: Aha, the good bit. Goals are fun and scoring them in computer games is the best gaming feeling in the world so as you regulary hit 40 yard netbusters it's obviously very exciting and wait a minute, the referees are one of the fairest in any football games yet. Oh I turned off the bookings, of course little things like that and a whole array of cheats, tournaments and custom options all add up making this one hell of a game.

Sound: The commentary is brilliant and the crowd realistic nonetheless, very good. All is top notch and this is one game that takes football a little bit more seriously than its dated rivals.

Lifespan: Football games always offer the best multiplayer and it's not different here, exciting single player but multi player is quite frankly amazing. Try playing it with your girlfriend, always a laugh. Bound to keep you playing for months, ignoring all latest Pro Evo 6s and FIFA 2007's in it's wake. Saves money too.
