Not just you buddy. I never see them given for the roughest tackles you can imagine, but stand 10 centimetres away form someone and there's the ref giving a pen.

Quite the opposite, in 1 and a half seasons manager mode, I've been given one penalty and conceded none. Had plenty of stone wall penalties not given though

agreed, my AI defenders somehow conceded 3 penalties in the same game last night on professional, and all 3 of them would have been soft free kicks outside the box let alone inside

Had a game online today where my player was taking a shot and was hit so he falls down and got no call.

My favourite one was from last night. Keeper saves a shot i throw it out to my right back as everyone's running out and my left back apparently runs into the opposition player and is enough to give away a pen. Wasn't happy

In 3 and a half years of doing a Career mode. PKs are a rarity. Now free kicks, absolutely.

I find it depends on the ref (or it's just random). Some matches I can hack the legs off players and get away with it, then in others I'll win the ball fairly and be booked. The worst one I've had so far was when I was Sheffield United against Liverpool and conceded a penalty for the computer running into Suarez after he had shot (and missed).
