EA Sports Fifa 11 HD For iPad - Great game, room for improvement, but not a lot!

User Rating: 8 | FIFA 11 by EA Sports for iPad IOS
Where is there to start? For years EA Sports have built their name by building high quality console sports games, but recently they have been producing several good quality games on the App Store, FIFA 11 in particular.

EA Sports' first soccer, football, whatever you want to call it, game on the iOS, FIFA 10 was a good first attempt, but FIFA 11 surpasses its predecessor in almost every way. Having said that however, there is one advantage that FIFA 10 has over FIFA 11. If you are playing a game on FIFA 10, and you exit to the home screen, next time you open the app, you will be able to resume your game from the point where you left off, on FIFA 11 however, the next time you open the app, you will have to start the game again.

But don't get the wrong idea, FIFA 11 is fantastic. EA Sports have obviously spent more time and money than they did on FIFA 10, and it shows.

The first thing that will strike you when you open the app is the menu, superbly designed, it wouldn't look out of place on the console version of the game. There are 31 licensed leagues from 24 different countries which can be played in a variety of different league and cup game modes, there is also a practise arena. The only thing which could be improved is the addition of a career mode, currently each save is limited to one season.

As soon as you enter a game, you will notice the graphics. Filling the iPad's 9.7 inch screen perfectly, the stunning graphics instantly capture the eye. The controls are great too, the player can customize the controls to his/her liking, choosing from; left-handed, large buttons, large joystick, floating joystick and casual control. The joystick allows 360 degrees of movement, allowing for ultimate player control.

The game also comes with great commentary, with which there are very little glitches (unlike several of EA's console games). I suppose the major downside of FIFA 11 HD is the price, retailing at $9.99/£5.99, the game is certainly not cheap, but if you don't mind spending a little extra to get quality gaming on your iPad, then I would thoroughly recommend buying FIFA 11.

So to sum it all up, FIFA 11 is a great game, there is some room for improvement, although not a lot. The price tag is a little expensive, but if you're looking for a quality football/soccer game on you iPad, you won't find better than this.
