Could have been a very good game but it's got some very major problems.

User Rating: 6.5 | Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli PS3
I'm playing this using the Logitech Driving Force GT wheel. I guess the easiest way to review this is to give the good and bad points.

Good:

Handling physics are realistic - it takes some getting used to, but if you stick with it it's rewarding and fun.

Selection of cars and tracks is small, but good. Although there aren't as many tracks as other games offer, the variety is excellent. There are some tight, technical circuits, some long tracks winding through the countryside, and plenty of interesting stuff in-between. The selection of Ferrari's is good too, with a few old classics and a few outright race cars, and several production models in-between. However there are quite a few near-identical variations of cars.

The graphics are really quite good considering the age of the game.

Bad:

The AI cars are imbecilic. They're basically programmed to do exactly the opposite of what a real-life driver would do, constantly - and I mean CONSTANTLY - swerving in front of you and driving into the side of you, and continuing to drive straight into you until you've dragged them halfway down the next straightaway. It's absolutely ludicrous and almost forces you to cut corners and ram into the side of them to pass, as it's quite often the only way to get past them.

There's a dead zone in the middle of the steering (which they try to disguise by putting a detent in the center of the steering wheel travel), which allows the cars to drift around instead of being in precise synchronization with the steering wheel. So anytime you turn the wheel, you'll be taking up that slack and then turning, resulting in an unpredictable jerking movement when you wanted a smooth one. It makes it nearly impossible to enter or exit a corner on the line you intended, which takes most of the fun and satisfaction out of driving around the track in a smooth and controlled manner.

The career modes are extremely restrictive, forcing you to race on certain tracks in a certain order. You actually have to use the exact same car for the entire "Challenge" mode, which is where you unlock all the cars and tracks for use in the other modes. This is the ONLY car in the game you can tune, and you can't do performance upgrades on any of them.

Overall, if they fixed the AI and allowed the player to get rid of the dead zone in the center of the steering, this could have been a really good little game. As it is though, well...I paid $12 for a used copy and I'm glad I didn't pay more.
