* When exploding in execution of the "demolish" command, the dwarven and goblin demolition squads cause a damage of 400 [hit points?], regardless of the opponent's armor (no random component values are figured in). That damage is caused to the unit or building at the target location as well as all adjacent units. So to be precise, the value of 400 is neither the basic nor the piercing damage; it is already the effective bottom line damage. The demolition squads are clearly ahead of the pack in both attack power rankings.
