Gamespot's That Voodoo2 Magic

Introduction
Remember which was the first 3Dfx Voodoo card? It was the Orchid Righteous 3D, complete with clicking electromechanical relays when the card switched in. Soon after, Diamond shipped the Monster 3D, and Orchid and Diamond had the only 3Dfx Voodoo add-on cards for a long time.

How times change. Already, the Voodoo2 accelerator market is more crowded than a Quake server on a Saturday night. While Creative Labs beat everyone out the door, there now seem to be Voodoo2 cards raining from the sky. A week doesn't go by without some company sending us a press release and jumping on the bandwagon. The market has heated up enough that there's even been one casualty - Jazz Multimedia.

So the problem facing the dedicated gamer is which card to buy; not a day goes by without a reader e-mail asking that question. So, to find the answer, we barricaded Loyd in his office with eight Voodoo2 cards and wouldn't let him out until he tested them all. We think you'll find his results as interesting as we did.
