Kain wasn't your top choice, and he certainly wasn't ours (although his name came up a few times during our staff debates). Yet he carried enough reader votes to make this list, albeit, just barely. Killing his own son is the action largely responsible for earning his seat in the readers' choice top ten villains.
"How could you forget Kain, from the Blood Omen series? He starts off nice enough, having recently been turned into a vampire, but then goes on to wreak havoc on those who did that to him? In Soul Reaver, he is a heartless bastard, having all but destroyed Nosgoth and controlling those under him with no room for mistake. He is vain, powerful, and worst of all, immortal."

"Kain has got to be the most suave and intelligent villain ever. His way of speaking makes you admire his power, and the way he presents himself is awe-inspiring (even if he is grotesque in form). Kain is an enemy who is very unpredictable and never really loses, at least not yet."

"Kain from the Legacy of Kain series was the most vile out of all of the villains you listed. He killed his own son, damned a whole world, murdered the Circle of Nine, chopped Mobius' head off, killed innocent humans, turned his sons into disgusting beasts, and much, much more. He should have been on the list instead of that Evil Otto character. Forget the mighty and downright vile Kain? You should be ashamed!"

"One of my favorite moments as a video gamer was playing through Blood Omen, Legacy of Kain just to choose the game ending option in which Kain becomes the dark ruler and says... 'Now I am a god.' "

"You loved him in Blood Omen, but in Soul Reaver he is the bottom line of evil. I was frustrated by this fool a lot. He is truly a nasty king."
