Saturn RPGs
Ah, Saturn, we hardly knew ya. Sega's 32-bit wonder was the little engine that should've, having all the pieces in place but horribly fouling up the execution. Boosted by winners from Game Arts, Sega, and Working Designs, the Saturn managed to carve out a healthy RPG niche. Some undeniable classics were released, and life was good.
In its later, more troubled days, the system saw a general developer malaise sweep the gaming community, followed by Working Designs' much-publicized defection to Sony. Half of its best RPG titles were released to critical acclaim - only to be unpublicized, underpublished, and effectively ignored. The other half stayed in Japan.
