Vampire Character Feature, Part Six
04/11/00
As part of our extensive expose of the player characters in Activision and Nihilistic's RPG, Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption, we introduce a vampire whose name belies his mysterious nature and elusive origins, not to mention his bold fighting spirit. This week, our subject is Pink, a walking enigma who introduces Christof to the modern world.

Character: Pink
Clan: Brujah
Sire: Unknown
Generation: 8th
Embrace: Unknown
Apparent Age: Unknown
Background:
Pink certainly cuts a figure shrouded in mystery, as little is known about his background. We do know, however, that Pink embodies the Brujah clan's credo of aggression and intimidation. Thus, Pink stands in sharp contrast to Christof, whom he actually introduces to the modern world. Christof meets Pink at Club Tenebrae ("tenebrae" is Latin for "darkness"), a London rave club, which serves as a watering hole, complete with blood on tap, for Kindred.

The Brujah of the Dark Ages, especially Ecaterina, sought wisdom and harmony through their struggles, yet the modern Brujah, to whom Pink belongs, relish violence for its own sake. These vampires have become Camarilla's anarchists and have therefore fallen from grace as philosopher-kings of yore to a state of rebellion and defiance, where there is no sweet remembrance of things past. The altered state of affairs confuses Christof, who is only beginning to understand and respect the altruism of the Promethians. What will happen now with the likes of Pink hanging around? The fact that this bloodline of Caine has changed so much over the years further displaces Christof, despite the fact that Pink takes it on himself to show him "wot we've done wiv dee place."

True to his clan's penchant for combat, Pink delights in using street-brawling weapons such as chains, switchblades, and sap-gloves, and he prefers to wear his thick "leathers" as additional protection. His Mohawk prevents him from wearing any sort of head protection. He feeds extremely quickly, often causing the death of his victims (much to Christof's consternation). However, Pink's seedy underground connections in London prove to be useful in regaining the trail after Christof's long slumber and torpor, and the old leather-clad Pink does his best to update Christof on the current ways of the Kindred world. Pink's vicious, dirty fighting skills also prove useful, especially those that teach Christof the use of modern-day firearms and hand-crafted Kindred weaponry.

Appearance:
Pink is an enigma, even among the strange Kindred. He dons the garb of a hard-core London punk: a black leather jacket stapled with safety pins, a studded dog collar around his neck, and a large blue-tinted Mohawk. In a world where other vampires still dress in their (now-rotting) eighteenth-century fashions and accoutrements, being an '80s fashion victim is not uncommon (20 years is a mere moment to an immortal). Besides, Pink's style of clothing suits his antagonistic attitude, although his eyes reveal an age far older than what he seems.

Pink speaks with a brash, cockney accent, and he is not shy about voicing his displeasure at the arrival of other members of the coterie. Christof sometimes has his hands full keeping them from going at each other's throats - as vampires instinctively do - and maintaining the tenuous bond that holds them all together.
Starting Disciplines:
Pink is a fighter - make no mistake about it. His bulging muscles show his strength, but they are merely a physical representation of his inner self. As a member of the Brujah, the clan that desires to maintain the Masquerade, Pink must lend his complete being to its cause. His starting disciplines are:
Presence: This discipline infuses him with zealous fervor and unequaled passion, which can strike terror into the mortals and immortals who behold him.
Potence: Latin for "power." This lets Pink break bones and throw stones as easily as he can tear paper or bite into someone's neck.
Celerity: Latin for "speed." With increases in this skill, Pink will attack and run faster.
Protean: This power lets Pink alter his shape. You can only imagine that Pink would use this discipline to increase the size of his arms.
