GameSpot's Preview of Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption

Unholy Disciplines
Vampires in White Wolf's setting have certain natural abilities, such as the ability to absorb, or "soak up," more damage than normal creatures can tolerate and, of course, immortality. Other than those basic traits, however, most of the supernatural abilities typically associated with vampires, such as extreme strength, the ability to turn into mist, or the power to mesmerize victims, are only available to vampires in the form of disciplines.

Each clan of vampires has an affinity for certain disciplines, and in Redemption you'll be able to acquire a wide range of disciplines. Characters have "blood points" in Redemption, and they will have to use those points to acquire the powers afforded by the disciplines. Here's a sampling of a few of the basic disciplines that will be available in Redemption:

Celerity - Bestows enhanced speed and reflexes. This discipline is common among the Assamite, Brujah, and Toreador clans.

Feral Claws - This discipline transforms a vampire's fingernails into sharp, damaging claws.

Fortitude - Grants resilience far beyond the inherent toughness of vampires. Gangrel, Ravnos, and Venture clans commonly possess this discipline.

Heightened Senses - As its name suggests, this discipline sharpens certain senses, including range of sight and hearing.

Lure of Flames - One of the mystic disciplines given to certain vampires as a result of Caine's consorting with Lilith, this discipline grants the ability to summon flame.

Mesmerize - An ability commonly depicted in film and literature, this discipline grants vampires the ability to influence a victim's thoughts.

Obfuscate - This discipline grants the ability to hide from sight, which is a relatively common discipline among vampires, and is possessed by a variety of clans.

Potence - This discipline grants tremendous strength.
