Basic Strategies

Never shoot the Nali Priests. Often, they will lead you to secret rooms that you could not normally access. However, if a dangerous foe is near, do your best to defend the Nali without attacking him. They are quite frail, and if you or your enemy attack them, chances are high that they will die.

Because there is so much to see and do in every level, take your time. Rushing through often leads you into dangerous situations or causes you to miss critical power-ups.

Experiment to find which weapons work best in a given situation. For example, don't waste Eightballs on Tentacles or Pupae. Conversely, the standard Dispersion Pistol won't even make the Titan blink. Intelligent weapon management is a major key to surviving the long and harrowing challenges ahead.

Many completely dark areas in the game require the use of Flares, Flashlights, or Searchlights to illuminate. However, if you find yourself in the dark without any of those helpful items, shoot your Dispersion Pistol to create a short burst of light. Firing in the dark also helps defend you against enemies you don't see coming.

Always keep the Universal Translator handy and search for any messages you can find. This includes signs on walls, books, computer panels, and basically anything you can read. Quite often, you'll find vital clues to push you in the right direction on your quest.

And finally, it goes without saying, fight smart. No matter how good you are, it is simply a foolish strategy to let your bravado bring you down. Instead, fight when the odds are in your favor, and run when they are not.
