The Benefits of the Force Push
When playing as Qui-Gon or Obi-Wan, you'll also have access to the Jedi ability of a Force push. This trait is quite useful against battledroids, especially ones that you surprise around corners or up elevators. A Force push stuns the droids. As it rests on the ground, you can clean up with your lightsaber. The Force push can't be used continually, though; it must recharge a few seconds between use to have optimum effect. The Force push also has other uses, like disabling Darth Maul's probe droids in the Encounter in the Desert level and activating switches from a distance. Don't forget you have Force push; you'll find many instances where it will save your skin or make a section much easier to defeat.
Sidestep, Sidestep, Sidestep
More important than the Force push, though, is the ability to sidestep. When playing as the Jedi knights, hitting the left and right sidestep keys will perform a side roll. If you're the queen or Captain Panaka, you'll hop either left or right. You must use this ability for each character to stay alive for any length of time. You'll face dozens of enemies carrying powerful blasters; you can't expect to attack every enemy head-on and live. Use the sidestep to dodge enemy range fire (which is often slow enough to avoid easily), then return fire from a safe area. If you are continually dying in firefights with the enemy, the probable cause is that you aren't using the sidestep ability enough.
Making Tough Jumps
Occasionally, successfully completing a tricky jump can be even more difficult than surviving firefights or solving puzzles. If you're having problems with a particular jump, make sure you are using all techniques at your disposal. For instance, are you running and jumping? A running start can give you a little extra distance on that jump. Second, are you using the double-jump ability? If you're playing as one of the Jedi knights, you can hit jump a second time while in the air to execute a forward flip. Finally, jump at the very end of the ledge if you're leaping over a chasm or pit.
