All very nice (except the box Retro 80's anyone?), and I'm sure it's magnificent if you have cable TV anyway, but what if you have SKY (or DirecTV for those in the colonies)? Do you still have to pay for Sky/Directv ? or Comcast etc. as well? What if the bills come up on the wrong days, as happens, and you can only pay one that week? Does your TV stop playing your shows because your MS Live account is overdue, even though your cable bill is paid, and vice-versa? Sounds like a bullshit plan. Also, don't want an active web-cam in my front room. What if I'm getting it on with the missus, she'd be mighty upset to find some-one hacked that and put it into the almighty "Cloud". Backward compatibility is also a concern. (referring to 360, not missus, although she'd be concerned also ;-) )
The Xbox One Revealed

Join us as Microsoft takes the wraps off the successor to the Xbox 360, starting at 9AM PST on May 21.
Why does Microsoft assume gamers will care about anything besides games? I don't even watch a whole lot of tv.
Call of Duty? Beautiful? State of the art? When? 1999?
The new one still looks muddy in all the wrong places. And the characters in Crysis 1 still look a whole lot "holy-shit-I-can't-believe-that's-not-real" better than this "next-gen" stuff.
When will people understand that "crispness" in graphics is SO damn important to making it look beautiful!
A few months ago I signed up for Netflix and was greatly underwhelmed by the entire service. When I talked about it over Facebook, a few of my friends told me that Netflix is mostly focused on North America, and that the collection of available on TV shows here via Netflix were lousy. And it was true, there were maybe 20 items in each catagory, and I went through everything I was interested in within a fortnight.
I'm afraid that with all this talk about the Xbox One being your TV's new best friend is going to follow a similar pattern, and that all this talk about great TV shows is only relevant to American consumers and not us in the UK or Europe. I'll keep an eye out for any kind of word on this, but the whole reveal has not yet one me over.
Aaand the rest: EA was first to kiss microsofts ass, Laughed at the Halo for selling out to Spielberg, Call of Duty looks nice graphic wise but still Call Of Duty.
The only thing that really got me excited was Kinect strangely enough. The fact that they mentioned the ability so recognize full sentences and better A.I sounds promising for interactivity with games. It sounds promising enough but how well they can actually intigrate this has yet to be seen. I'm hoping to be able to talk to Alyx in Half life 3 through my TV as opposed to being a mute protagonist. Something like that could be revolutionary. Also the illumiroom has yet to be shown. There is alot to be seen still
I'm kind of happy. I loved my PS1 and PS2, but left Sony for the 360. Obviously, I'm not going to buy this ugly black box. No wonder its called the Xbox One, it looks more archaic than the original! It will be nice to be back on Sony's side. I miss Metal Gear and the PlayStation World. God knows my childhood company Nintendo is heading nowhere fast with the Wii U. Sony! Shut up and take my damn money!
I feel exactly the same way, I LOVED my Playstation and will be glad to get back to some hard core gaming
@mdballa50 @chemicalbrother I dont get how they are so different. For all we know PS4 could block used games as well. They seem capable of providing the same type of graphics and remember when they said the PS3 was more powerful than X360? yet all the games looked and performed better on 360. we'll just have to see more before we can decisively say that one is better than the other. I like the PS4 better too though but I still need to see more before I decide
@liononzion @Devils-DIVISION @mdballa50 @chemicalbrother I dont want kinect 24/7, i want the playsation exclusives, i dont want a glorified cable box. you have to pay $5 a month just to access you cable you already paid for. they admitted gaming took a backseat to develop the other things the xbox does. 3 os plus windows 8? no!...who would want that?
@Devils-DIVISION @liononzion @mdballa50 @chemicalbrother If Ps4 dont block used games or charge a fee I dont see why any gamer wouldn't get it instead of the xbox one. But I dont believe its confirmed that they wont block games on PS4. hopefully all this is clarified at E3
@liononzion @mdballa50 @chemicalbrother
The PS4 won't block used games, and it seems unlikely they will charge you a fee as well: http://au.gamespot.com/news/playstation-4-will-play-used-games-
Multiplatforms performed better on the 360 because of the complicated PS3 architecture. Most multiplaform titles were ported over from the 360 to the PS3 because it required complex coding, as both the GPU and CPU had shared processes. It was simply too expensive for devs to hire a separate coding team just for the PS3. The PS3 was slightly powerful, but only if you had the resources and time to work with it, hence why PS3 exclusives looked so great (Uncharted, Killzone God of War, etc.).
Here's a video that might help you understand it with some more depth: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmHY_VnuDdE
Next-gen, however, it seems that the PS4 is slightly more powerful, especially when RAM is taken into account. The XBOX uses 8GB of DDR3, while the PS4 uses 8GB of GDDR5. DDR3 is much slower than GDDR5 which is specifically designed for higher bandwidth video use.

I think adding live tv, skype, dvr and the internet explorer is just an excuse to raise the price.

Man, the X1 is a colossal disappointment, it is vastly inferior to the PS4.
The Xbox One is an entertainment system. The PS4 is a gaming system. The one you choose depends on where your priorities lie. I know which one I would choose.
There is no denying that xbox one is an impressive system but i felt they strayed away from what made xbox 360 a good system and i also felt it was US based which might not click in asian countries saying all these i am still looking forward to e3 where they might show off some of the exclusives after all exclusives are what that matters
Sticking with PS3 for now and eventually getting PS4 sometime in 14-15.
X1 looks like gimmicky technology bullshit. I have cable already. Don't need to watch it on a new console. TV is over rated anyway.
I watched the first like... 15 minutes, then when he all of a sudden started using sign language and showing all the great TV shit, I went and printed out the article about the PS4 and hugged it.
I'm exaggerating of course, but I was thoroughly unimpressed. I wish Microsoft luck, I'll be playing PS4 for the next decade.
I really like the forward thinking MS does with their consoles. They've been the ones that have pushed the industry forward, and they continue to do so. Interactivity was the next logical step, and its MS that's going to be pushing that the most out of all 3 consoles. I like all the consoles, and will likely get them all, but I am liking what MS is doing pushing this aspect of home entertainment in a hard way.
I'm with many of you on the design, but it does have a certain charm because it harks back to the original Xbox, giving a weird retro vibe. What no one can question, regardless of some of the reactionary negativity, is that the hardware is damned impressive.
Seems the PS4 wil be better both in terms of hardware and game offer.. MS is building an all-purpose device while PS4 focuses on what developers and gamers really want: Games.
PS4: 8 core 1.84 Tflops CPU, 8 GB GDDR5 RAM,
Xbox One: 8 core 1.2 Tflops CPU, 8 GB DDR3 RAM
Wonder how the GPU's of the two consoles compare.. Since they pretty much didnt say anything about the specs I bet it will be less powerful than Sony's.
Was not at all impressed about the things they showed.. They pretty much began with the TV stuff. Only thing slightly interesting was Quantum Break IMO.
Sony's shares went up 8 percent after this!
So is the casual audience you hope to gain with this all-in-one garbage going to offset all the customers you're losing to Sony because they buy consoles for games? I already have a blu-ray player and a 4-tuner DVR with AT&T and I HATE kinect. Don't need this other crap. RIP my gamerscore, PS4 here I come.
Just build a darn game console MS! Is that too hard?
I don't care about having my heart rate monitored while watching TV, reading some fool's facebook page, and doing some crazy clap-on clap-off schtick.
Give me a break.
Another disappointing aspect about this 'reveal' was that this supposedly NEXT gen console looks a lot like the original XBOX which is dull. In fact, the Xbox ONE looks like a cable box.. "hint hint !".. which means most Americans are expected to throw away their cable boxes and fall in love with this sh*t. Also, SONY's stock value got a rise of over 1.5 dollars just a few hours ago. SONY will get a rise in everything following this disaster from Microsoft. I had so much expectation and it has all come crashing down.
What a disappointing presentation they had... All of those gameplay videos were CGI and they sucked. It just looks like it could be a nice OS for the PC more than anything. The design is so old school and lame and in general I just have a bad feeling about it. Sony has no competition in my view unless Xbox1 would replace your Virgin/Sky box.
I will HONESTLY admit I am NOT a SONY fan boy. But, this conference was BORING. It was underwhelming, and had nothing to interest me as a gamer. I don't f**king care about Comcast or the NFL cause I ain't from the USA. I wanted to hear about GAMES ! Sadly, they did talk about A game and it turned out to be Call of Duty with DOGS. Sadly Microsoft, I won't be buying your piece of TRASH box come the holiday season. Sony has gotten another customer now.
@starjay009 They did talk about Forza too. But all the games were shown as CGI so there's really nothing to be seen or something to make a calculated decision on. All of this still looks behind PC technology to me as a PC gamer. One thing I am extremely looking forward to though is the push for new and more immersive games that these new consoles will bring.
@IceQBkid @starjay009 : I agree that a lot of it is based on PC technology. As a matter of fact, the new Call of Duty looks poor compared to METRO: Last Light on PC. In fact, the new COD looks inferior to Crysis 3 on PC which means PC gaming will always be ahead. However, even the CGI visuals looked poor compared to the PS4 ones.
@IceQBkid @starjay009 Man, I think there are positives here but that isn't enough to convince me to go and buy one of these later this year. The 360 was an almost perfect console if it wasn't for those deadly red rings. WHY ?! WHY ?! did Microsoft have to go backwards ? I mean.. there are some eye candies here and there but you get my point... not convincing. Maybe I was over expectant, don't know that but I thought the PS4 event was a lot better. Just a personal opinion.
@starjay009 @IceQBkid I do have a good feeling about this new CoD. They are finally pushing in the right direction which is character development. I also like that D-Sub technology which makes edges smoother as they are zoomed in or something. I swear that dog's animation alone made me feel like it could be real which is exactly the immersion I am talking about in these next-gen games. I also loved the commentary on the Forza video and if they have that in the game like Grid Drift Events did it would be quite awesome :).
@lorider25 I don't expect these people from MicroSUX will show anything extra in E3. Probably a little more action from Lionel Messi, some Forza footage, and more COD stuff.
My only gripe about this reveal is that few questions were answered. Other than that, I'm not surprised at how the reveal went, 19 days away from E3, save that event for the games
@Richard841 You betcha Richard. I don't need this 'cable box' sitting in my living room. I already got one.. oh wait ! it might only work in America cause I am Canadian. :p
@drodriguesaar I bet SONY's people are giggling like teenage girls at this very moment ! :D
SO I guess people were expecting a bunch of games??
This was purely about the capability of the console
Seems very America-centric again. Most of that TV stuff won't even be able to be used where I'm from.

I live in Madisonville, KY and the best internet I can get is AT&T 3 Mbps. Unless I want Satalite. SUCKS
I live outside of town.
@giz1300 many of sony's high-end laptops and smartphones are much more faulty than Chinese products.
@giz1300 Indeed. It also looks like shit! Like a black box for PACKAGING hardware itself!
you have to admit that it's a very sexy console. i'm even more curious to see the ps4 now.
@prestodaniel As a 360 owner it pains me to say this, but there is nothing 'sexy' about MS's newest ugly black box.
