Looking at the forums, has definitely gone some directions I was concerned with. Largest viewed posts I am seeing are, whats at end game? Fan boys that know nothing of this yet, are in argument with those that have reached this and grinding, or find something else. Grinding drop rates are now starting to be realized.
Pvp, talks of zerg, or some views of the one shots, and they haven't even seen the heavy one shot stuff yet with purple signets. Maybe this is why so few signet drops, fan boys who in a few weeks will find themselves there will likely change there toon.
State of the game has been announced, and maybe a few hopeful things there. With things as they are now, 20 more days to first part, still has me wondering.
@poisonelf1 Like you said; state of the game has been announced. They promise monthly(!!) updates with new quests, sometimes dungeons and new areas. This will be included in the sub, so no new cost.
IF they can deliever, IF, the game will go on forever, I am excited to find out
Graphics on your own screen are much much better. I bit the biscuit and bought this and have been playing it since last night. This game is far prettier than Terra which some people are comparing graphics to. Terra is colorful but no where near the intricacy of these graphics. As for the odd feeling to movement and fighting mechanics, these things can be worked on and fixed by funcom. This game in nothing like Terra and GW2 and WoW so do yourselves a favor and stop comparing them. The complex graphics and sound and story and uniqueness of this game make it worth it alone. THANK YOU FUNCOM FOR MAKING A GAME THAT IS DIFFERENT. All the cookie cutter crap games that have been flooding the market for the last ten years is concerning. People buy that shit and send a message that it is what we want. Look at D3... that game is so old and boring.
@jojocoolio TSW better looking than tera ?
dude plz stop it just stop already
tera might be many things but graphics/animation/combat wise its just wtfroflpwn tsw easily and with style
You guys do realize this is a live stream of game play right. That won't be on again for about 4 hours. Top of page is archived feeds of past several days, that you can view.

@WillyChong This is why there is a schedule that says when the stream will be live :/
That's why it says "See schedule below for details on when Kevin will be streaming" and then there is a schedule, and mentions that all times are Pacific.
Nothing quite like messing up a build early on. There is no respec since you can essentially get all the skills, it makes the game frustrating.
This is the draw back of many trying to get that deck build first thing. Its much better getting the abilities you need to move on, than saving up to get the 50 pointers you end up not wanting or using.
I really hope this game will succeed because we need more quality MMO's out there. I've been watching the live streaming on and off so I'm looking forward to the review.
There has been heated arguments on the subject before of kill stealing. In over all game play it is no lost to a player that got the initial hit on the npc, so it only is help in destroying enemies by a second player. Some argued they hated it and others not.
There are faults in the system though in the sense of grieving. Stats in the outer tier under misc., give hate and no hate stats. This can easily be used to aggro a group, and run it to another player, and hit the minus hate stats to change target.
Steve is about to enter Egypt, there is some problems here as well, in grieving. The main mission requires doing certain steps to complete that phase. Another player can stand around and watch all those steps take place, and when its at its last step, jump in and get the update, leaving initial player to start over.
On another note, I was really hoping this would go in a different direction, but reading forums I have to say I am a bit disappointed in being somewhat right in concerns of pvp domination. One server is working at combining forces to stop the zerg of Templar's. I really can't believe I am seeing this already in a weeks time. I wouldn't even know where to start for a solution for this. Wanting something in the game to try to advocate pvp is understandable, having it effect all players, a downfall, especially when over powered.
@poisonelf1 There are some troubles too in how groups are handled that you reminded me of, too. There are many occasions in which each player has to complete every objective, even if another player has already done it. That can lead to frustrations as well.
Yes, some inconsistencies, some do up date as a group, others not.
The breaking of groups for solo parts was also disgusted quite alot. Pros and cons, some beak the flow of group play, while others felt more important to keep, preventing power leveling or getting to far ahead of yourself verses your abilities. Alot of frustrations in this area for many.
Watching the vid from the first day of livestream and it's driving me nuts how often Kevin butts in and steals kills away from other players. Can't stand that when I'm playing an MMOG. You're not "helping", pal! Take care of your own business.
@timthegem I should also prepare you for Guild Wars 2 in advance then. In that game, all players engaging an enemy will get their own credit and drops, so there is no kill stealing or mission-objective stealing--you are supposed to just jump right in. I thought I would let you know in advance, so you don't get annoyed when I stream that game, too.
@Kevin-VI must have been confused when you repeatedly prevented a player from being able to lead zombies into the church, which you eventually realized when they complained. So sorry, thanks for the enlightenment. Please continue to run around slamming on that trigger button. You do it well.
This is a good point, and quite minor to many I have seen.
With all types of players racing around having fun killing stuff, there is quite a few situations like this that can entirely restart a quest over for ya, by indirect involvement from others.
Just think how it will get when some start doing it on purpose repeatedly?
@timthegem You realize there is no kill stealing here, right? Once someone engages, the kill is theirs; you can see whether or not you will get credit for the kill from the shading of the enemy's life bar.
So yes, indeed, I lent a hand--I did not steal any kills; the player got full credit as they were meant to. Perhaps you could just ask rather than assume next time?
This game looks innovative and fun. I really wish EA wasn't the publisher. I will probably pick this up in a few months but it unsettles me to support the pockets of EA.
The only thing that is preventing me from playing this is the monthly fee. First, I am fed up with games that charge monthly fees now.... didnt bother me too much before but now I am sick of it. Also, GW2 is coming out in little over a month and it doesnt charge monthly fees. I can wait till it comes out.
@jojocoolio Same. The days of me paying a subscription fee to play games is over. It was par for the course and acceptable 4-5 years ago, but those days are gone.
TSW will go F2P with freemium and packages like LOTRO in a short time. That's no dig at the game, just the reality as I see it.
@vishisluv7 short time? your day dreaming. it took 4 or 5 years for age of conan,
pay and play, or you wont play at all.
The life of the game is where I think a problem.
Before much of this got going I posted some questions that should be answered. These questions I already know the answers. The last three days of beta, I did the entire main mission to its end, as well as rank 9 or so in a faction. Starting from scratch after a wipe, but with available upgrade 10 weapons. Technically up to this last wipe we are and were under nda, but after this point we are free to speak. So some that think anything negative coming out is just trolls, might consider we have been tied and bound up to about this point speaking about beta.
I personally loved alot of the game, but enough issues that especially at this point in knowledge has made me stay away. A two fold situation, what time will tell foreseen problems, to what is actually there here and now.
I think many players coming in will enjoy the game in its first phases, if that's a week or two, to slow pace for a few months. If I jumped in the game right now, that would maybe be a week for me.
This is where the questions need to be addressed. After you have done the main mission, worked up through Fangs, then what, a week, month?
This is where there needs to be something more. Are you going to just work pvp? Just do dungeons, elites, nightmare?
PVP as I consider it, is back to a familiar aoc seen. World domination giving double item stats in such things as hit and dodge. I wonder if this will follow pace as in AOC and one group/faction end up fully controlling it? Are you going to go slow paced, so that one group, also will have the signet buffs on top of this to compete with as well?
Item drops were absolutely terrible, when it comes to this area. Seeing never a signet for a major talisman, and such rare drops in head and weapon, would make this a disaster. Functioning dungeon items very buggy, as well as these items not slotted for signets, nor lower level items below 10, even much better blue ones. The upgrade for these signets takes 10 to make a blue, and 10 blue to make a pink, where is all that storage space? So really what is there in that months time? Grind, grind, and not even dungeons if you want the signet perks? Faction, pvp gear, not sure on them, I didn't test those, most I ever saw though was rank 9 and not slotted.
So these are the questions, where much of the early stuff is not even falling in this picture. Yes a few bugs, graphics and such, but it becomes alot bigger picture later on. When you see you have finally got what abilities left that work, to make great sinergies etc. Then you come to the end game stuff, and find 90% of the builds have npc's to fight with no removable buffs such as any hinders and impairs. All npc's for signets, in camp and lairs. Now the few left combo builds, are even more eliminated, as you look at all the worthless abilities such as remove buffs and such through your selection.
So time may tell if a faction will be dominate, and everyone wanting buffs just starts climbing on board. Until then, grind grind grind?
So far I love the game. I bought it based on the live feed. I showed up in game. "Indie-Hipster" find me in game. I also posted a video to the forum.http://youtu.be/0rXPYxDnuiI
Ive played the beta and im playing it know but cant shake the feeling that this game was meant to be F2P. I mean it has shop from which you can buy all sorts of clothing for your character aswell as character packs. Adding monthly fee in my opinion was a bad thing considering it was set this way.
In my personal opinion, I think the game is entertaining. I think that the story is complex, eventful and very very thought out. Some of the beginning quests found me thinking "I hate this, I can't stand it," but once I painfully gave it an hour I found myself playing it for 6 hours straight! Trying to figure out what is going on... Once I was that deep in I found the combat fun and unique. I found the abilities to be amazing. I love the interaction between players. In other MMO's people aren't as fond of conversing with each other, but in the "Secret World" people hold no "No Secrets" from each other. When I needed help with the "Men in Black Van's Quest" a player named "Ryans" gladly came to the rescue joining my group to help conclude the quest! I believe that the demographic of this game is extremely Mature vs the "I hate you and don't bother me" feel of WoW.
From a business standpoint - You can argue that Funcom's idea for this is to maintain (and increase) financial stability through releasing a MMO with "real money" game buying since behemoth developers are releasing record sales games.
What I did find interesting was the fact that the CEO stepped down as well. I don't think that it had anything with this game... I think it had to do with simple inside corporate issues. Why am I mentioning this? When you are playing a new MMO it has updates and patches and if you want to make sure that your investment of $14.99 is going to be worth it in the future, is there going to be added content from a developer that isn't even close to as large as Blizzard or Bethesda?
So we as gamer's have to look outside the game (especially with an MMO) to see what is going to happen as opposed to swinging our swords gathering up "Ability Points" and "Skill Points."
It really is a bad mmo game. You must truly love puzzles and hard quests (investigation) and the fact that combat is very very sub par and its hard personally for me to justify a monthly fee. Especially if you think of Funcoms horrible experience with Age of Conan.
@infinity_ and here lies the problem with so many gamers. They don't like to be challenged or made to think. And just saying "it really is a bad mmo game" kinda points to your gaming maturity. It is not a 'really bad mmo'... you may not like its complexity but that in no way makes this a bad game.
It's a good game. if you're tired of wow like games or other asian mmo's this is something new. dont let other people tell you otherwise and try it yourself. There are many trolls in the world who say all game are boring and stupid but thats they're opinion. Not yours!
People who are comparing this with GW2 are propaply high....
I've played this game since beta , and IMO the game is really boring.
It's fun for the first 10 hours , then it gets boring , can't imagine someone playing this for months.
it's a different game and that's fairly enough for me..........supernatural,illuminati,templars......looks very interesting
People in doubt, please notice that many of those who highly recommend this game are new members of GameSpot. Of course there are a few old members too, but mainly brand new and that's a bit fishy.
Really FunCom? Spamming gaming sites?
@ghaffir Right, because I've never seen a board flooded with NEGATIVE reviews all from new members, making the same irrational, gramatically consistent arguments against something. *cough metacritic giving almost every AAA title a 2.0 user review*
@ghaffir Yup thats what I noticed too...good call.
@StealthUS1 As if the fact that they, and almost all other game companies nowdays, give exclusive access to their products - and bushels of ad contracts - to places like Gamespot, long before the product has any intention of being released, somehow doesn't fit into the description of "spamming gaming sites".
