Aw geez, Kevin, I was really looking forward to today's live stream! I'm sorry that you're too ill to play a video game. It's cool that you have that kind of a job, though, where you can kick back and rest whenever you're not feeling quite up to it.
"Get well, get well soon, we wish you to get well!"
@timthegem I think it's noteworthy to suggest that if you count the hours between Saturday's, Kevin is giving us 38 hours on top of his other responsibilities of his normal job. So if somehow Kevin ultimately hated the game you could say he was putting in a 78 hour workweek, so you could leisurely watch it over the weekend.
That and while it may be no big deal for you to sit in MMO position for 38 hours a week, that can take a serious toll on people who enjoy things like exercise and walking around every once and a while. No it's certainly no as difficult as working in a steel mill. but again you could add up all the hours he sits at his desk too.
Just sayin'.
I must have misunderstood when he said that he was going to be writing the review for this game, which I thought was his "normal job", after playing it for about 70 hours. The Livestream is very nice and I have enjoyed it. I was obviously kidding but I'm happy that it provided you with the opportunity to tear your shirt open and become **trumpet chorus** The Valiant Defender. Stand tall! Stand proud! Deliver us from sarcasm!
@SuperTerrorizor @vishisluv7 @Ghettostamps11
I wish there was a symbol that showed whether the sound effects I'm hearing are from the game or from Kevin regurgitating.
@vishisluv7 @timthegem @Ghettostamps11
I believe at one point there were few discussions for creating a new ASCII symbol to end a sentence with if the writer was trying to portray sarcasm. But unfortunately the people who took part were unable to differentiate if the discussion itself was sarcastic or not.
@timthegem @Ghettostamps11 Sarcasm doesn't translate well to message boards. Your first message didn't come across as funny, but rude. Obviously, that wasn't your intent, but Ghetto replied politely.
No need to get so defensive.
Guild Wars 2 is very impressive. I haven't had the chance to play it much so far... has a great chance to be rated 9 or higher from my perspective.
@Albaficas @trueepower44 I wouldn't give it more than 7, but i guess that's because i want different things from it.
Game is awesome. I'm having a blast. So far, I haven't experience game fatigue. Enjoying it!
According to the vibes I'm getting from people, this games not doing so good. Its upsetting because it was supposed to be a non-WoW clone, whole new experience and now everyone's disappointed.. I feel like I've lost faith in MMO's completely, unless The Elder Scrolls online makes a huge impression, which doesn't seem likely so far.
@alpha_unit97 What? The game it's so freaking good... well not for everyone (like every game out there) Don't listen the fan boys, don't listen the haters... listen Kevin while he plays.
@alpha_unit97 It's not a WoW clone. If it was any different it wouldn't be a Fantasy MMORPG. Some people are just so tired of MMO's they're always looking to the next one and they'll never be happy. I think those are the people you're talking to. They just need to play something else entirely.
@ggregd @alpha_unit97 I don't think it's that people are tired of MMO's or the fantasy genre, I think it's more the fact that most MMO's play the same way with tab targeting systems and static worlds.
True I'd like to play something else entirely, an MMO with a persistent open world, voiced characters, dynamic environments and interactions, quality graphics, extreme variation and a decent story arc. Granted there are many games with these features but none with all of them rolled into one big old pile of awesomeness!
I am looking for a graphics card that is plays rts games and rpgs well and uses under 300W. Can anyone give me some suggestions?
@UKwildcats14 Id recommend getting a 750 watt powersupply, and a radeon HD 6850.
@UKwildcats14 The perfect card for you is the 9800GT Nvidia... hands down a good card i can play BF3 on medium settings and am right now playing GW2 on High/medium settings, i also play league of legends on Very high and Diablo 3 on High. It has very low power requirements and since its an older card i'm sure u can find it for around 50$. I promise u man its a very decent card for the price and mine has run strong for the last 2 years.. FYI my power supply is 350W.
You need to upgrade your PSU it's dated. Most Graphic Cards today use 500w at min, 750w or better would work.
Power Supply. It depends on the case you have and motherboard. http://www.newegg.com/Store/Category.aspx?Category=32&name=Power-Supplies
Any Cosair would do with around 750w. As I said I don't know what Motherboard you have nor case.
Still torn about purchasing this. Liked the first one but this one seems to be lacking any "Wow" (Not WoW) factor. Anyone who has it care to sway me one way or another?
@-Saigo- it's the best MMO ive ever played, and Ive played most of them. The game feels organic with it's quest/events. the PVP is unmatched. the game is gorgeous. It also doesn't hold your hand.
I just recently purchased GW2 and unfortunately I'm having major performance issues. Here are my system's specifications: 1. AMD Phenom X4 BE 955 3.2GHZ 2. 8GB RAM DDR2 1600 MHZ 3.RADEON 6970 2GB DDR5 I only listed the components which I feel relevant, my issue is a frame rate that is consistently 25 FPS or below when playing on lowest possible graphical settings. This is the case no matter where I am, whether it be in areas of high or low traffic. My initial thought was, it must be latency. But I was asking many of the players around me if they were experiencing similar issues, all of them said no. I really doubt my system specs would be at fault, especially since I'm playing on low settings. I once had a performance issue with Batman Arkham City, turned out to be a result of bad coding for the cut scenes which put too much demand on the processor. Rocksteady(Developer) eventually fixed the issues with a patch. Thought it might be possible GW2 has some type of issue with specific hardware or maybe mine is malfunctioning, I just want to put this out there in case anyone has heard of or is currently experiencing issues such as
@brpw4lif3 your specs are about the as mine, It sounds like a power supply issue. also, I have a radeon 6950. and the same cpu. I run the game on max at 60 plus fps. you might be running dirty power. also, check your power settings. windows might be set to balanced, change it to performance.
@brpw4lif3 For your and everyone else's information lag doesn't cause low frame rates (FPS). Lag is internet latency, more the latency, more the lag and you could still run 60 FPS (frames per second).
Hate to see when people talking about LAG and in reality they are talking about frame rate issues aka LOW FPS.
Cheez.
@brpw4lif3 This might sound obvious but have you tried updating the drivers on your graphics card? A lot of performance issues can be fixed with a quick update, and from your setup, it sounds like you should be running the game just fine.
@brpw4lif3 Check your PSU, make sure it can handle the hardware. I have a 6970 myself and it runs 1080p with minimum 50-60 FPS on High. Though I'm using an OC'd 2500k, you should still see much higher than 25 fps on low. Its most likely a driver issue. Use Driver Sweeper, now called Driver Fusion, and reinstall lasted AMD drivers. Check out Tomshardware for hardware comparisions on GW2 performance.
@brpw4lif3 That spec should be fine... but I suspect it is an issue with the graphics card. Either a game update or a driver update may be needed.
@brpw4lif3 I have far worse specs than you do and haven't experienced any such issues. I'm playing at 1900x1200 resolution with low/medium settings.
Sorry this post isn't helpful to you but I didn't want people to think the game is very poorly optimized.
@AireeeZ Do you happen to have an intel/nvidia setup? Been hearing this game has been optimized for hardware manufactured by those companies.
You need a new case i it's cramped. Long Term that GPU will overheat and cause probems.
Has been working fine for me FPS wise (1920x1080, high/max in most, no AA). I have i5 2500k, 2x Radeon 6870 and 8GB DDR3. Could crank settings up higher and it would still run fine, but I prefer them a bit lower so there is less stress on the GPUs -> less heat (bit cramped in there, so it heats up easy).
This is the first time I'm playing an MMO...are there any suggestions are good control schemes\? Or are the defaults supposed become more fluid/second nature?
Thanks in advance!
@shahirbear eh, i got used to it pretty quick. i guess if you have extra mouse buttons, you could put some stuff there, and the sooner you get used to using a button to dodge instead of double tapping, the better. i'm too used to double tapping to go back, even though i know it holds me back D:
@BrunoBRS @shahirbear Take a look at the Razer Nostromo. That piece of hardware works wonders in MMOs, and any other game type you throw at it.
