Stop right there criminal scum. Our The Elders Scrolls V Skyrim Walkthrough provides strategies for the main quest, crafting tips, and secrets about guilds.
The Throat of the World
Return back to High Hrothgar. If you haven't already, give the Greybeards the Horn of Jurgen and you will finish up your training. But the real business here is to talk to Arngeir and discover how alduin was defeated. The Greybeard will tell you about Paarthurnax. Head outside to the courtyard and the Greybeards will teach you the Clear Skies Shout. You can use this to clear massive ice storms that will be in your way as you ascend up towards the Throat of the World.
Now head up south and climb the mountain further. Everytime a snow storm hits, use Clear Skies to avoid taking steady damage. The trek up the mountain is calm for the most part. There is the possibility to encounter hostile Ice Wraiths along the way through. These creatures are fast and can slow you down with their various ice attacks. It's highly recommended to use your flame spell to easily hit the enemy, as both melee and archery has a higher chance to miss such wily targets. As long as you have a follower, the enemies shouldn't be that tough.
Once at the Throat of the World speak with Paarthurnax. It appears that you need to locate an Elder Scroll, but the leader of the Greybeards has no idea where it is. It will also teach you Fire Breath which you can use to "greet" him. Before leaving, talk to Paarthurnax again and he can boost one of your words of power, such as Unrelenting force or fire breath. We personally went with the Fus upgrade. Still head back down the mountain and speak with Arngeir. He will suggest going to the Mage's College in Winterhold.
Winterhold is far off in the northeast, making it preferable to hail a wagon as far as you can. Even upon arriving in Winterhold, the gate to the college will be locked. To get inside you'll need to legitimately join up with this guild. Locate Faralda to join up. She will most likely be standing near the entrance walkway to the college, but if not try waiting. She'll want you to cast Firebolt on the tile in front of the entrance. If you don't know Firebolt yet, she will sell you a copy (what a scam). Once a member of the college and inside head to the Arcanaeum within the halls.
Speak with Urag gro-Shub and he will give you a book on Elder Scrolls written by Septimus Signus. It's best to seek out this author to find the Scrolls location.
Signus' Outpost is even further north of the College. Because you're already on such a steep hill, it's not practile to go straight north. Instead head down to the waters below the city and traverse towards the north. The encounters along the way are random, but mostly expect to fight Horkers and maybe Ice Bears. When you finally meet Signus, it appears he's completely off his rocker. He will at least give you a magic cube and sphere before pointing you towards Alftand where the Elder Scroll is.

There is so much to do in this awesome game "The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim" a good Walkthrough is always welcome.
Okay so, I don't know if anyone's answered this or not, but.... If the whole point of this scene is to go through all this sh*t & get fighting experience, then discover the horn ISN'T actually there and you actually have to go to Riverwood to retrieve it....
Can't you just skip this scene altogether and just go right on over to Riverwood? Or is something crucial supposed to happen (besides loot stuff & fighting skills) that you cannot miss?
Just someone please tell me if I can skip it & just go to Riverwood, or if I HAVE to complete this part.
Start a new character and in the first house that you can get your first weapons, the NPC that helps you, waits for you to take a key from 1 dead soldier and open the door..... DONT open the door, go in sneak/stealth mode and backstab him as much as you want.... He does NOT die..... I left there with 44 level 1 handed weapons and 100 level sneak. Character level about 18. I could wait more to get 1 handed weapons in 100 but i got bored..... ^^
+It's only 50 gold to get to Solitude from Whiterun, and if u don't have 50 gold, then u r spending waaaaayy too much, and only doing the main quest
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there meant to be a word wall in this dungeon? This guide misses out on the shout so I was just wondering if this is a foolish mistake or what?
How do you put spells or souls into your weapons? I just started playing the game, and all the stuff that can be done is a little overwhelming.
@YariStar find an enchanting table, there you can break enchanted weapons or clothes or jewelry etc. you break these items to learn the spell, after a spell is learned you can use the table to enchant you own belongings, as long as you have filled soul gems, the bigger the soul gem the more powerful the spell will be. to fill soul gems you need a soul trap spell or a weapon with soul trap capabilities, the bigger the creature the bigger the soul.
how do you get through the gates that open when the stones are walked near by... all my gates were open n i whirlwinded through them but i couldn't go through the gates???
Do you have to finish the main quests before going to side quests? or is it just better to finish them first?
@lolgamer73 No, you can finish the main quest and do the sidequests if you want. I always do sidequests first before finishing the main story. It's up to you. Not sure if there are any missable sidequests for completing the main quest first.
OK, don't laugh, please. but I can't figure out how to use the PS3 controls to take and then equip objects. Some of them just "follow" me and I don't know how to pick them up. Some of them make it to my inventory but some don't. What buttons do I push to get this stuff? Before you think I'm stupid, I'm not, I'm just a LittleOldLadyGamer that hasn't forgotten her inner child :)
@lolgamer73 You can't equip objects. Only weapons, armor, rings and necklaces. You can pick up objects by pressing X or drag them around by clicking R3.
Hi guys, I just got Skyrim yesterday and it's a cool game but I seem to be stuck at one section in the golden claw part and it's annoying the hell out of me! When I get to the chest at the end of the tunnel where I've slashed up all the undead dudes and got past the spike door and the swinging blades I pull that chain that opens the iron gate over the stream and then I can only go a few meters into the cave and I get blocked by a heaps of rocks in the way that wont let me go any further. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there something that I've missed that makes the game do that? Any help would be awesome! Cheers.
where can i find and enchanted armor, or apparel item ; boots , necklace, shield ; etc. enchanted with firewalker that i can break. my character is a vampire, and i need fire resistance on my armor.
@jolene26 just enchant your own armor, you have to disenchant something with the effect first(to learn it), your skills will improve, as will your enchantment, the more you use the enchantment tables.
@jolene26 sorry i didnt read you question properly, there is a theft merchant at the college of winterhold that had a necklace that had 30% fire resistance, hope that helps
im stuck in Saarthal in the chamer with 6 stones that have a snake, eagle, and fish on it...what order do they go in???
Doing "In My Time of Need" quest where I need to talk to Alik'r prisoner in jail. Apparently need to unlock the jail cell in order to talk to the prisoner. I have pickpocketed 4 jail keys from guards, but at cell door I keep getting the message that I need a key. What am I overlooking or doing wrong?
Who the Hell is Drelas and why is he trying to kill me?!? I'm quite a way into the game and don't remember how I might have slighted this fellow, but he surely wants me dead and I can't figure out why.
@Lantazan Drelas is a wizard who has a cottage and if you find him, he tries to kill you with magicka powers. If you kill him though, you inherit his cottage. If there are things that still say "steal," which they shouldn't, unless he's still alive. I was stumbling around and came across his cottage and he tried to kill me, so I zapped him dead with my shout of fire. I instantly got his cottage. You will officially have another home.
.......maybe because I just went busting into his house on a rainy afternoon, but I remember that guy's name from somewhere and the quest log has no record.
im in ustengrav depths [the horn of jurgen windcaller ] im stuck can't get through the gates help 2 hr trying

@nbarocks123 Just wait for the opening scene to finish...then you'll be able to make your character...damn are people this bad at games now?
I'm stuck on a side quest for words of power. The area that is stoping me is a riddle of sorts from "the four totums" or something like that. the door I need to go through is locked and the only way to get to the other side tis to solve the riddle. The totums must be activated in order. Each totum has an animal on it's face.
The animals are as follows: Fox, Wolf, Bear, and Snake. (Not Nessessarily in that Order).
The Riddle goes something like this: The first fears all: the Second fears none. The third will eat the first and the forth when allone fears the second. Again I'm not positive agout the exact wording but this ai all I have. Could someone please give me the correct order for this riddle.
