Games 1-5
Games 6-10
There are a thousand ways for a good game to die. These are the top ten:

  1. Bad timing
  2. Lack of marketing dollars
  3. Glutted genres
  4. Press neglect
  5. Too innovative or groundbreaking
  6. Lack of follow-through in the final phases
  7. Subject matter is too dark
  8. Graphics are behind the times
  9. Tagged as the wrong genre
  10. Choked on own vomit in cheap hotel room

Any of these factors, along with any number of others (see Geoff Keighley's The Rise and Fall of Trilobyte for the insider's view of the pressures of game making) can combine like unfortunate genes and mutate to make a good game gather dust on the shelves. The games we've chosen for the TenSpot are games that should have succeeded. There are a million stories in the naked city. Here are ten.

If you think we're off the mark, you'll have a chance to speak out on the last page. Keep in mind that our choices are in alphabetical order - not order of importance.
