There's nothing quite as dissatisfying as spending dozens of hours playing through a game, only to be presented with a disappointing ending.
The bad ending has evolved over the years. In the old days, you'd simply be dumped to DOS after a short congratulatory screen. Now you're dumped to a credits sequence after a short, congratulatory movie. It's a bit better, but not much.
Unsatisfying conclusions are just too common. A disappointing ending can sour you on a game just as easily as a good ending can make you remember it for years. And that disappointment seems inversely proportional to the quality of the game.
When we originally began planning this edition of TenSpot, it was titled The Ten Worst Endings. But as we began selecting candidates, we realized that the endings that disappointed us most were those that seemed unsuited for the great games they closed.
So, here are our choices for the most disappointing computer-game endings. These are all games we thought were great, but for one reason or another, their endings just didn't satisfy.
Please note that these entries will go into great detail about each game's conclusion. We've provided links at the top of each page to help you avoid reading any details you might not want to know about.
