The Enemies of Rome Campaign The last campaign is short - only four scenarios. The name is a bit misleading, as you only play Roman enemies in the first two scenarios. You play as Hannibal in the first scenario, and in the second scenario, you have to displace the Roman encampment around Pergamum and destroy the government center. Also in this campaign is Spartacus' slave revolt. This campaign is relatively easy compared to the other campaigns. Scenario One: Crossing the Alps Objective: Get both armored elephants and Hannibal past the double flags in the lower corner of the map.
Strategy: The objective seems easy enough, but your most direct route to the double flags is blocked by a huge, impassable quarry. That means you have to take a circuitous route. You have to first travel along the northern edge of the map, going to the north corner, which happens to be a Townsmen camp. After breaking through the walls here, you must travel down the valleys to the second Townsmen camp at the south edge of the map. There are two routes to take. Of course, the shortest path leads directly south and into a gauntlet of towers. The second route is longer, because you have to travel along the very edge of the eastern part of the map and then turn back west, but the defenses here are minimal. There is a wall blocking the end of this valley route, but just break through with your elephants. Then break through some more walls and find your way onto the path again. You'll get hit quite a few times by the sentry towers dotting the map, but as long as you lead with your war elephants, you should be fine. Because the winding path is so hard to describe, simply turn on the map cheat (reveal map) and take a look for yourself at the routes you can take. Reminders: Don't let Hannibal die. All you need to do is bring him and the two armored elephants to the double flags, so don't dawdle. Do yourself a favor and turn on the map cheat first so you can see how to get there. The pathfinding is bad enough that you almost have to do this. Next, Scenario Two: Third Greek War |
