Rage Walkthrough
You might have stayed safe, but the world isn't! Our Rage Walkthrough shows you how to win races, craft from junk, and survive the wasteland.
Driving and Racing
You won't be spending all the time on foot. A big part of Rage is driving around the desolate canyons. You'll only begin with a fragile ATV, but will soon gain new vehicles to catch a ride. All of your cars have a built in thruster to help speed up travel. Use this often, but let the booster recharge when it gets low. Keep your vehicles maintained by repairing damage, improving tires, tuning suspension, and replacing the engine at a mechanic. Your buggies start unarmed, but within Wellspring you can purchase machineguns and rocket launchers. These weapons will not only help you takeout bandits, but make your car eligible for competition.
Outside of selling salvaged junk, racing is one of the quickest means of gathering funds. You can take part in time trials, standard races, combat races, and checkpoint rallies. During armed races you'll want to balance out both agile speed and deadly aggression. If you're behind an opponent let loose with rockets or bullet fire to take them off the course. When in the lead, place mines behind yourself and put up your shield to absorb incoming damage. You have limited armor repairs, so hold off on using them until the final lap. Nothing is more shameful than taking silver because you were too busy exploding. Keep up the boosters and you should be grabbing gold with little effort.
Money Making Game
If driving isn't your thing, you can also earn money by gambling. Within Wellspring, locals like to play Sheriff, a dice based game. Roll four shots on your first turn to get 10 times what you put down; if you manage four shots by your second turn you'll get 4 times your bet; at four shots on your third turn you'll break even. If you roll three or less, you lose.
Another more strategic form of wagering is a game of battle cards. Each card has an attack and health value, as well as a specific attack or defense type. Melee cards can only hit the cards directly across from them. Ranged cards can freely pick which card they attack. That is unless there is a vehicle on the field, which absorbs all ranged fire. Healers can restore lost life or repair vehicles. Other cards include consumables that deplete after one use, but might damage all opposing cards.

Some tactics include getting your healer in front of a ranged attacker while placing a vehicle in a different slot. This way, you have a beefed up tank without fear of your healer taking damage. Be mindful of a cards point value, as this determines the size of your deck. Sometimes going in with an army of weak cards can topple a small deck of strong cards. Always consider rearranging your deck to help ensure your cash flow.
