Pod Racer Driving Overview
While general racing strategies work well when applied to this game, you'll also want to know some specific tips and tricks to give you an edge in the unique world of pod racing. Below is a list of tips and tricks to help you nail down the quickest times in your pod races:

• Keep a smooth touch on the stick - grinding it hard will only make you loose control that much easier.

• Never use the brakes (and don't waste your money upgrading them!) You can handle nearly every situation by simply easing off the accelerator. If you need to bleed off more speed, use the repair function (hold down the R button) or pull back on the control stick.

• When you dive into a race for the first time, hang back and watch the numbers floating over the other drivers - those numbers will give you a better visual sense of "the lay of the land" than the overhead map ever could.

• Be careful you don't rear-end slower lap traffic - you could end up as a fireball!

• Don't forget that your pod racer has an "extra thrust" mode. You need to be on a straightaway to activate the thrust mode - simply push the control stick forward and keep an eye on the thrust meter. When the indicator turns green, you can thrust. Simply tap the accelerator (the A button) to begin your thrust.

• Practice the "boost start" - as the numbers count down, get ready on the accelerator. Try to hit the A button about halfway through the time the number 1 is on the screen. If you time it right, you'll blast out of the gates with a short power boost.

• When thrusting, your engines will begin accumulating heat, which could lead to an engine fire if you're not careful. Listen for the warning beep and then tap the A button again to cut the thrust.
