wait a minute how is wii u @ 350 a fail if xbox 360 launched at 400 basically , cause you needed a hard drive at least if you bought the 300 version you get 8 gigs and a sd card slot and ability to use external hard drives?  you sir are a fail@ seekerofangels

and lol no games included ? what console besides nintendos includes games with them?   my xbox core did not come with any games and i had to pay 60 for perfect dark zero

do you see a difference plus i had to buy a wifi adapter  yea lets talk about pricey when  , xbox360 and ps3 launched they were both expensive in the long run or short run respectivelly wii u comes with a hdmi cord  ,did  xbox or ps3 no they came with either standard or component if you ponied up 400 for 360 and av for the300 360 and ps3 ,

so if anything nintendo is being fair at least they give you what you need to get going ,  and if you want a game buy one it still costs 360 either way     or pay 349 get nintendo land free as well as stand and such your choosing jeez its not like your paying 400 plus a game

A lot of the women in my office (most of the staff in my office are women) bought Wii's, none of them are traditional gamers and they have no interest in Xbox's or PS3's but they all went out and bought Wii's because they were cool and they wanted Wii fitness. They spoke about the Wii incessantly for about two months and never mentioned it again.

The Wii sold amazingly because it was a fashion thing, like a ipad/ iphone, I really don't think the Wii U will sell anywhere near as much as the Wii and in a years time its going to be completely outdated when Sony/ MS release their new consoles only this time they wont have the casual market to prop it up.

I suspect this is going to be a massive fail unless they produce WAY more hardcore games then they did for the Wii.

Awful launch all around by Nintendo. Just awful.

Looks like a mirror match of the VITA launch to me, incredibly interesting hardware, but (and it's a big but) only one maybe two pieces of software worth playing!  What's up with that?

Ripper_TV

@psuedospike What's interesting about 7 years old hardware?

psuedospike
psuedospike

@Ripper_TV How can it be 7 year old hardware if it comes out this year?  The specs are nearly double what an xbox 360 has.  Not what I meant though, more that the design and tablet gaming idea is interesting and I'd like to see what can be done with it, same with the Vita's back touch plate and advanced gyro.  Guess we'll just have to give both about a year to gather a library of playable games.

@psuedospike yeah the VITA launched back in Feb. (In the US) and still no good games!! I'm pissed for buying one I haven't touched it in months

A lot of the launch titles are merely Wii U-fied version of the games we have already played elsewhere. Games not built from the ground-up with (likely) gimmicky input controls added will not be able to showcase what the hardware is capable of.

Oh well, at least we will finally be able to play future Nintendo first party IPs on our HD sets without squinting or squirming. The game screens will resemble what are shown on the game boxes, manuals, and art books.

Lets be honest here everyone that's buying the WiiU is going to buy it and store it away in a deep dark corner until the new Zelda/Metriod/StarFox/Mario comes out.

emperiox
emperiox

@xavvor1 There's more Mario, Metroid, Starfox, and Zelda remakes than Call of Duty games. Why on earth would I want to buy a Nintendo product that only makes the same game OVER AND OVER AND OVER. That would be like me buying a console from Activision, it's pointless and will get boring fast.

xavvor1
xavvor1

@emperiox Huh You talk about doing the same thing over and over? I'm pretty sure a certain FPS games does that to a higher degree compare to the "repetitive gameplay" of Zelda and Mario. I'm sorry if you think Nintendo flagship franchise are "repetitive" but you should give them a try you might just end up enjoying some of them.

@emperiox  You have an MMO logo as your icon, yet you're complaining about repetition.... K.

Eh, It has a few Wii U exclusives like ZombiU, Mario, and Bayonetta 2 and those other ones, but not enough for a first day buy. Most of the games they showed, in my opinion, don't look that interesting and never heard of them before. Then they got games that are or have already came out for THIS generation like batman, call of duty, mass effect 3, and assassin's creed 3. This is 2012 and I want to see NEXT GENERATION GAMES for this "NEXT GENERATION CONSOLE". Let's see a NEW batman, call of duty, mass effect and assassins creed game EXCLUSIVELY for the Wii U with updated graphics and gameplay. THEN that would be worth it. Not games we can get on TODAY'S GENERATION consoles. It looks like they are competing with xbox 360 and ps3, which is sad. Seem's nintendo is still lagging behind and I predict it will end up like the original wii when the next Playstation and Xbox systems comes out.

@kenjing1 I doubt PS3 will be any different what else can they do have video games you can taste

@FallenOneX  @kenjing1 He's talking about the lame game lineup idiot. Nobody wants to keep playing Mario rehashes over and over. Get over your Nintendumb whiteknighting.

@emperiox  @FallenOneX  Actually, FallenOneX's comment is valid based on the context of the comment he is quoting. Also, based on the context of your comment, emperiox, I will refer you to your previous comment about repetition. Again.. you have an MMO logo as your icon, yet you're complaining about repetition....

/// @emperiox  I'm an idiot, but you say no one wants to keep playing the same Mario games over and over... WHAT DO YOU THINKS HAS KEPT THAT COMPANY AFLOAT FOR SO LONG? If can't admit that, then you're an idiot.

I would so like to discuss with those lads around a beer. It should be a good console, but now that they have a good system Nintendo gamers will do as PS3 and Xbox players can, so enjoy beautiful games!

@seekerofangels I agree. Nintendo is going to bomb on the line-up AGAIN, and blame the bad sales on the kiddy lineup. I'd actually consider buying it if Nintendo would make something other than Mario, Metroid, Zelda, etc...I'm not going to buy a console that doesn't have many action games or RPG's as those are what I'm primarily into. It's not that those games are bad, but I wouldn't buy a console from Activision if they only made Call of Duty, I'd want some variety (just so people don't think I'm hating on Nintendo).

Yes, let us relive our fond memories of paying $600 for the first line of malfunctioning PS3 consoles when it first launched. The PS4 and XBox 720 will more than likely cost more than the Wii-U at launch. Hope you brought your milk money.

@seekerofangels Actually it's worse than that, basic model for $299, "deluxe" version for $349.
