Mass Effect 3 Demo Live Stream
Chris Watters jumped into the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer demo to give you a taste of the cooperative action!
So, as you are well aware, the Mass Effect 3 demo has hit Xbox Live, and it not only includes a single-player demo, but also cooperative gameplay! Chris thought he'd take a look--and invited you to join him.
Our UK team had already shown off the single-player game on an episode of Now Playing, but we hadn't broadcast the multiplayer, so Chris focused on that. Sadly, you missed the live stream. But if you wanted to catch up, the full archive of the stream is below!
What's Hot on GameSpot
@jake071 It's the same thing on every platform. The same button is used for way too many conflicting actions (run, take cover, and revive ffs). I've gotten used to it and find the multiplayer surprisingly fun, but it definitely is an issue.
Been playing the demo. The single player portion felt not very good compared with the prior two games, so I am hoping the final product will be better. I'm playing on the PC and find combat a bit difficult because the sprint button is the same button that you use to go into cover. So when I am trying to sprint across an open area when the enemy has their back to me I end up going into cover halfway across and getting pinned down by the enemy. Does anyone else find this frustrating that the cover button and sprint are the same?
It's more fun than I was expecting, but I hope there are more game modes. The 'horde' thing gets old.
@professorXzaver No need to apologize, no harm done :)) (it was your opinion I just pointed out that you should give it another chance)....The Multiplayer CO-OP part has 3 levels bronze , silver and gold (gold is a killer)
@barnold81 I am sure it is 4 players CO OP only ;)
@jollybest1 I know I will play the co-op. If there is competitive multiplayer though, I don't see myself getting into that.
@jollybest1 oops, I had the game on Normal difficulty. I changed it to Hard and it became a lot more fun to play the demo. Many apologizes !!!
I echo B3ckett, I was rather concerned with the idea of ME multiplayer and how it would translate into the modern multiplayer world. But in the end I havent been able to put it down. Is it MW3 of BF3? No. Is it fun, hells yes. Each class complements each other well enough, no one appears OP. The combat is fun yet challenging, sometimes you will wipe in the first wave because Cerberus flanks from an unexpected posistion, and no one player can really go all out Rambo for long. I also find the unlock system to be great, with a nice sense of surpirse when your roll and get an alien class or brand new attachment for your weapon. With more variety in maps, baddies, and objectives you got a multiplayer that would be a fine and fun addition to the ME series.
I was a part of the large fan group sayin' "why the fork did they go for the MP?!?!?!?!" Thanks to BF3, on 14th I played SP (I've seen the leaked materials, so I knew some) and yesterday sat before the MP and I must say... after the initial moments when I learned a bit or two (maps, recoil, enemy spawn points etc) it really started growing on me. It's fun! Plain and simple as that. It's not BF3 MP quality. It's just fun in Shepard style. You can use all those ME powers in fights with waves of AI. And some fight mighty fine from perspective (omni blade!!) ! I'm saying that after only 2-3h into the game, but I'm hooked already. It turned not bad at all, at least at this point. Check it out - worth it. It's like GOW with omniblades and Liaras singularity. :)
@mrbrainheart i cant play the demo and i said those things by digging other cm's to find out what's the game like, if what u say is currect so i'll be a heartkiller fot this game :P
@Albaficas dont forget that ME serie born in xbox 360 and still has more options for 360, ... mr. ps3 fanchick!
not working.........
This is too much. Can you people divide this video into smaller, manageable parts?
this is just not working for me.. it won't load up..
Not just for XBox, have played the PC Demo though twice and continuously more excited about the upcoming release :)
Sounds good to me
awww i thought the guy at the front page was Jim Varney :(
@professorXzaver well change the way you play because on PC I have a lot of fun .......
@edmond_villamor the adept class is aweome if you are covered by the others......Soldier class is what most go for but it isn't the best...don't know about the infiltrator I will try it now
@edmond_villamor Yes ME3 seems to be better on PC .........more fluid and more good looking
@OurSin-360 yes BF3 users have the multiplayer unlocked....
Gears of War 3 = Still the King of the Xbox 360 !!!!! I played the ME demo and it left me with a sad face :( . I did have some degree of fun with it, but I was expecting a lot more.
You had to preorder or buy some other game in order to actually demo this before friday right? EA is terrible
At least on places it is going to be released that is. Hehe.
@Atheosis Well I totally knew the PC version would be better but I was amazed that it was THAT way better. Kingdoms in PC and Xbox is almost the same minus AA and AF but the character definitions and the game itself plays almost the same. But the demo in Xbox was to me a bit of a let down after playing ME1 and 2 in the PC I expected a bit more out of it. Good thing the PC version came out today I was prepared to be disappointed with three. Thankfully, the PC version didn't disappoint. Looking forward to the game. Let the Reapers come, we'll be ready. In March 06, 2012, the world will stop moving for a day. Lol.
eddyoshi the infitrator was the best for me
ps3 is way better than the xbox version... but lol PC all the way for me after test this game from all platforms
@edmond_villamor The PC version had smoother controls and better graphics? Who would've thought? /sarcasm
Played the Xbox demo too and I was disappointed, then I downloaded the PC version and I was blown away. Sorry guys, I'm an Xbox fanboy too but the Xbox version just doesn't cut it, controls were a bit clunky and it lacks antialiasing. Didn't go through the MP though as I am going to do it in the PC version. Mouse and keyboard is still the way to go playing ME, I was a bit disappointed 'cause I want to try it out on my Xbox but the PC version is definitely the definitive version.
This had better be an earlier build. These animations are UNACCEPTABLE.
oh and what is the best class to use in mass effect 2?
why does xbox have the rights to game ads, the second an awesome game comes out or gets a demo xbox comes along and says "right were making an ad for that and releasing it before anyone lese can", why the hell is it always xbox ads, and when will the mass effect demo be coming to the ps3?
This only exists because EA is starting to insist that all the games they publish have multiplayer. It might be fun, but I can't shake the thought that these resources could've been dedicated to further fleshing out the campaign.
Looks solid
Ok, now for the RPG part.
@barnold81 Believe me the co-op part it's great . I was skeptic like you but when I've started playing I couldn't stop it just made me want more
I didn't even have time to play through the entire demo, but I know this game is going to be incredible. I must get it. I don't understand the push for multiplayer in the game, but it doesn't matter. It's just frustrating that I will have multiplayer achievements that I will have to go for.
sorry But i hate demo It's not enough to satisfy My hunger To play mass effect 3 :D
Played the demo last night. Mind blown. 'Nuff said
why do we need multiplayer in a mass effect game...
guys next time please dont use justin.tv..... it streams nothing in here...... better call Mr. VanORD and do the now playing in the gamespot studio itself..........
Having problem with aiming ? Don't play shoot on console !
Looks like crap to me. Just a tacked on, trendy mode, using things from other games, that doesn't belong in ME3.
I hope it doesn't turn out laggy and boring. Still multiplayer is fun.
Awesome
I for one am looking forward to playing the mulitplayer portion of the game because it is something new and I can play someone other than Shepard. It would be pretty cool to play as a Salarian Infiltrator and then compare it to a Human Infiltrator to find the different nuances and strategies for both (if any). The single player demo was fun too.
@zephonwing "While all players will be able to play the single-player content, access to the multiplayer portion will initially be limited. Those who purchase a copy of Battlefield 3 will be able to gain access to the multiplayer portion of the demo immediately upon the demo's release; access is unlocked by redeeming the Online Pass included with new copies of Battlefield 3.All non-early access players will be able to play the multiplayer portion of the demo beginning February 17, 2012."(mAss Effect Wiki)......well I have BF3 so I can play
is it true we can't try out ME3's multiplayer until the 17th? I just kept on getting error msgs from EA when connecting
@transformer1992 races are restricted by classes , for example you will unlock when playing soldier human male , female, krogan and one more, they have different powers, the same is for every class (every class has humans but not all of the races), you get salarians at infiltrator class or quarians at enginere class or asari at adept class , i don't remember which is in which class but you can play with all the major races
played last night on the pc...it is awesome, Vanguard, Adept and Soldier are nasty :D........one more thing every class has it's own melee...the sp experience well you all know about the first mission
