This is an optional, but fun exercise. Turn and
proceed north and take the left fork. The Dark Being
will rant and rave and dump boulders on the track.
Blow them up with dynamite (from the tool box) and
your cigarette lighter. Continue to the end of the
track and walk down a side tunnel. This is the Dark
Being's laboratory. In it you will find Dr. Krick. You
can even revive him. But if you turn around to the
right, the Dark Being will clunk you on the head,
effectively ending the game.

So reload the game and return to the roundtable.
You need to repair that malfunctioning switch you
drove by the first time you went south.

Go south again, drive to the switch, and get out
of the train. Find a hexagonal steel bar in a crate,
put it in the switch box, and use the wrench from
your toolkit on it. Now continue forward past the
second side track and then back up, moving the switch
lever on the control console.

If all goes well you'll back down a side track,
automatically stopping at a drawbridge. Get out and
use the controls in the inset to lower the winch all
the way and lift up a lever to lower the bridge.

Now you need to return to this spot facing forward
to use the drill. Go back to the roundtable, turn and
face east, then go forward. You will eventually come
to the switch to the drawbridge track. Continue past
the bridge to a broken track. If you go too far
you'll crash and the game will end.

Get out of the train and use the spike remover
from the tool box on the broken rail. Use it on a
piece of good track off to one side, then put the undamaged
track in place and continue to the end of the track.

Hit the center red switch to run the drill and
enter what appears to be a workshop. On the workbench
is the Ion Cannon's seventh part, the stock. Click it
and enter the Cannon construction interface.

Diagram to construct Ion Cannon

Assembling Ion Cannon, nearly
completed
A printout of the diagram will come in real handy
here. You can have any two pieces or assembled parts
on the screen at a time. Assemble the parts following
the numerical order on the diagram, starting with the
light bulb-looking Ionizer and the vase-like part. It
becomes tricky later as some pieces have moving
parts. Part four needs to be closed after connecting
it. Part five needs its arms opened before connecting
and closed after, and before inserting the crystal in
the top, you need to move both arms up. You'll know
you're successful when you hear a high pitched whine
as the cannon warms up.
