Liberation and Piazza Maps - Modern Warfare 3 Gameplay

Check out some gameplay from the two brand-new maps available for Call of Duty: Elite subscribers.

The first Call of Duty: Elite "content drop" landed yesterday, rewarding subscribers with two new multiplayer maps. We played the two new locations, and you can check out some footage below.

Liberation

The first of the two new maps is Liberation. Set in a war-torn Central Park, New York, Liberation is great for all play styles. Those who prefer sniper rifles can take advantage of the long sight lines by finding a spot amongst the abandoned military vehicles and trees in order to comfortably pick players off from afar.

Or if sniping isn't your thing, there are plenty of spots on the map for those who enjoy running and gunning. The bridge near the centre of the map and the tunnels are popular choke points, so watch your back.

If you're not afraid of being exposed to other players, mounted turrets are available on both sides of the map to inflict carnage on enemy teams.

Piazza

Set in a small town on the beautiful Italian coast, Piazza is a map perfect for those who prefer close-range combat.

You will need to learn to watch your back through the winding streets and staircases in this map, as danger can come from all sides.

Over the next nine months, Elite subscribers can expect 20 content drops featuring new maps, Special Ops missions, and game modes. Elite subscribers can use the calendar on the official Call of Duty website to find out when they can expect the content to be available.

Liberation and Piazza are available for Xbox 360 Elite subscribers now, but no date has been given for their PlayStation 3 or PC counterparts. The content will be bundled and made available to players who are not subscribed to Elite, with the first collection expected to launch in March.

    Looking at the hefty prices being used now, I can only imagine how much COD subscriptions and map packs are going to increase in cost on the next generation consoles.

    guys why u keep hateing COD ...... well they cant change the way of the game right now at MW3 bec it continue the story of MW2 & MW3 ..... if u need changes u should tell it in another game .... like Black Ops.... or back there at world at war .... But wait ..... u are the ones that liked black ops so much and made it the best selling game ever ...... and even if MW3 didnt made much selling like the Others - but it made alot also- how do u expect them to listen to all of ya .. here ... at GameSpot .....

    well i got Bord of mw3 and i will for sure not buy this map pack its so not worth the money. i will probably get back to playing mw3 but for now i am going to stick to TF2 and Gothem city imposters two great games

    Way to showcase a team of striker using prestige in the first Piazza vid, GS. Small map, striker galore, CLUTTER! Not the way to market this map towards PS3 players. I almost opted to sign up for Elite, as I'm just now getting the CoD itch again, but I'm damn glad I didn't.

    Every time I see crap like this, I'm glad I didn't sign up for elite. LAME, Flanders! I wouldn't buy DLC for MW3 if it were 50 cents per map. Just awful. And I really like CoD. But MW3 is a missed step. All of my regulars and I went back to BLOPs.

    i own Modern warfare 3 i own MW2 and MW..im all MW'd out, been playing it since 2007. i wont be buying anymore DLC for this game. If i want to play Call of Duty again, ill be going back to COD4 and MW. Im not forking out anymore cash for this game. Bring on CS:GO, as ive gone back to playing Counter Strike, as it never gets boring.. People that are actually giving activision money for Elite are on drugs. Im not a call of duty hater at all. ive enjoyed the series right up to MW3. But MW3 is boring as hell, theres nothing making me want to fork out for its DLC.

    Battlefield 1942 , BAD company 2 and BF2 , COD4 and MW2, drill Modern warfare 3. Arma 2 annihilated Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield. WINNER :> COUNTER STRIKE.

    @trivolution Yep. I played bad company one and two, as well as battlefield 1943. I loved the games as well as the developers. But this past year, battlefield 3's little ''above and beyond the call' slogan made me loose total respect for the developers. It turned me off of the series so much that I didn't even bother buying bf3, (not enirely the main reason, but a factor in my decision), and probably won't now. It really just shows which is the better established franshise when one tries to bash other but that franshise knows it doesn't even have to try and compete with the other.

    @xXSouTHxPaRKXx : It just depends on what game you like better. Ignore all of them that has a side on each one. Those people are usually the fanboys no less XD. My perspective about either of those games, is that i like them both equally the same. Each game has a unique style that the other one doesn't have. So yes i can see why you get frustrated when somebody says one is better than the other, but in reality, there both about the same if you think about it

    Truth is everything from Modern Warfare 1, 2, and 3 could have been added on to the first one as expansion packs. All the weapons, perks, and levels could have just been downloaded and changed because this is the same game every year. Ive put my time into each one, but ironically im putting less and less time in on each one to the point where Im not even going to bother purchasing the enxt one. Battlefield 3 made amazing strides in their latest installment, and Call of Duty did not, it's that simple.

    When Halo and CoD were competing, the studios that created the two games showed respect to each other thinking both are great games, so were the fans. Last year, however, one studio started a hate fad....

    ive tried to get into Modern Warfare 3, but i feel after COD4 MW and MW2 ive just played 100's of hours already. In MW4, IF theres an MW4 or another call of duty. They really need to change it up a bit and maybe even simplify it a bit too an enhance the gameplay, not just give us more stuff. Too many perks, too much garbage is starting to creep into its gameplay. More, im not sure, is better for me, where call of duty is concerned. Ive actually gone back to BattleField 2 and Counter Strike and am enjoying that over Modern Warfare 3 too. I could probably play COD4 and MW2 over MW3 also.

    Bring on CS:GO. Im all Call Of Duty'd out.

    I'm getting sick of everyone saying "oh blah blah you're just paying for MW2". If you don't like COD, don't play it, and don't clog up the comment box here with negativity. I for one enjoy playing COD online. I don't want them to change the formula, because then I probably won't enjoy it anymore. I'm happy to pay, because I want more levels to enjoy the formula I like.
    COD offers me quick, fast paced action which I can play whenever, when I have some spare time or when I want to spend an evening online. Battlefield 3 (which I own and also love) requires me to dedicate some time to it as each match can take some time.

    First person shooters are not really for consoles, for me, the main reason is aiming. I don't know what developers are thinking. By saying that, i don't mean to put console gaming down at all.

    i miss free maps bundled with patches and expansion packs, isn't this essentially paying 4 a patch which has and lets be honest been made already before release and being slothed out over 12 ish months? publishers i do not blame you, we are to blame the consumers, if we wouldn't pay for it you wouldn't do it
