A few months ago, Denny Atkin visited the Klingon High Council at MicroProse and caught a glimpse of Klingon Honor Guard, MicroProse's upcoming Star Trek shooter using the Unreal engine. Based on what he saw, Denny wrote a preview that talked about the premise of the game and provided general information on levels and enemies. Recently, though, GameSpot received an exclusive build of Klingon Honor Guard, and we've been playing at being Klingons. What we've played looks promising, and now we can bring you an update to our previous preview that includes specific information on how the game looks and plays, as well as some info on the levels, weapons, and enemies.

Klingon Honor Guard allows you to play an elite guardsmen who must punish the rebellious conspirators who have made an attempt on your emperor's life.
Here's a brief recap of Honor Guard's premise. You're an inductee into the Klingon Honor Guard, the elite guardsmen for the Klingon High Council and the Emperor. As a member of the Honor Guard, you'll receive tasks and missions from the Honor Guard leaders. Your initial mission is actually a training mission given to you by Kurn, the brother of Worf in the Star Trek: The Next Generation universe. The actor who voices him is the same one that portrayed Kurn in the TV series: Tony Todd. After this initial training mission, you receive an alert from Korek, the gruff leader of the Honor Guard, telling you that an attempt has been made on Klingon Emperor Gowron's life. The assassins managed to kill all the other Klingon High Council members with a bomb, although they managed to only incapacitate Gowron. With the Empire now on the edge of turmoil, Korek turns to you to track down the assassins and get to the bottom of this rebellion. Now that we've boiled the story down to its basic form, let's take a look at the actual game.

Many actors from Star Trek: The Next Generation reprise their roles in this game, including those who played Kurn, Emperor Gowron, and the traitorous Duras sisters, Lursa and Betor.
