Kids' Games This year, GameSpot teamed up with one of our sister print magazines, FamilyPC, to bring you the top picks for kids. Even though these choices are really for the juniors of the household, don't be surprised if you see mom and dad hogging the computer. Some old favorites make a reappearance (Pajama Sam is very popular with our previews editor), while some new entries manage to combine education with really fun gameplay. Pajama Sam: Thunder and Lightning Aren't So Frightening
Any child who's ever been scared of storms will enjoy helping Pajama Sam - the world's youngest superhero - in his newest animated adventure. This time, Sam heads to World Wide Weather and, while there, inadvertently messes up all the world's weather. It's up to you to help Sam fix this mess by finding parts to fix the world's weather machine. The FamilyPC play testers said it would definitely brighten any kid's rainy day.

This game blurs the line between education and gaming, but what kid wouldn't have fun building Star Wars robots and seeing them work. DroidWorks sets kids on an adventure that gets them tinkering with scientific principles such as energy, force, and motion; machines; light; and magnetism. Disguised as one of the Jawa - the robot-recyclers from Star Wars - kids can build droids, following specific guidelines, to complete 13 missions. The FamilyPC gang says that Star Wars definitely makes learning fun.

Whether your kids saw this movie or not, Knowledge Adventures has put together a fun game hosted by the wisecracking, body-sharing dragons Devon and Cornwall from the movie. The activities include lots of fun minigames, like stickers and Make a Minion (where you create your own monster with assorted body parts. But the most fun, FamilyPC testers said, is the Raise a Dragon game, where kids oversee the hatching and raising of a baby dragon.
Read the review SimSafari
This game was made by Maxis Kids, but adults will have just as much fun getting involved as children. Like Maxis' other sim games, kids get to build their own African safari, complete with animals, reptiles, and plants. Once the park is up and running, kids create a safari camp. This game provides information on tons of animals, including lions, cheetahs, buffalo, and more. There's a lot to manage, and getting a perfect ecological balance isn't easy, but the 60 FamilyPC testers were more than equal to the task.

Freddi Fish is back in his third adventure. This time, the special conch shell that is used to open the Founder's Day Festival has been stolen. Freddi must work together with his friends to track it down in time for the festival. There's a lot to do in this adventure, including making your own funny characters with body parts and clothing. Each time kids play, new culprits, characters, and situations generate, making this one high on replay value and fun.
