Dragons of Flame
Published: 1989

The year 1989 also saw the release of Dragons of Flame, the sequel to 1988's Heroes of the Lance. Following the story of its predecessor closely, Dragons of Flame chronicled the adventures of the popular Dragonlance characters in the dungeon of Pax Tharkas. This time around, the heroes were pitted against Verminaard, a dark cleric armed with both a mighty weapon of evil magic and an alliance with a powerful and ancient red dragon. Your party's mission was to explore Pax Tharkas, liberate the slaves, and ultimately defeat Verminaard and his evil army.

For the most part, Dragons of Flame was a more-of-the-same sequel. The size of the marching order increased from eight to ten and allowed for additions like Fizban the Fabulous (a powerful and senile wizard with a hidden agenda). However, the gameplay was about the same: more real-time hack-and-slash on the part of the lead character backed up by spellcasters in the front.
