@Dedakiss, I understand...butt. The game gave up on it' sim roots since the transition from FPS to TPS. How many GR have been produced since then? Infact GR has been an TPS longer then an FPS. Complaints are warrented, but it's a bunch of sequeals and many years to late. If your asking for something else your literally asking for another game. For me anyway (can't speak for others) it was never about it being a sim, even though I did enjoy the challange. It was simply a great co-op game. Which made it a blast and kept it in rotation amongst me and my fellow gamers for many years. This looks as if that aspect of the game hasn't changed.
Heat-seeking bullets, transforming drones, and other fancy toys abound in the latest Ghost Recon game.
Though Ghost Recon: Future Soldier was announced early in 2010, Ubisoft is taking the next few months to put some polish on its upcoming shooter. We had a chance to check out a few different missions from the game, two of which can be found below in their entirety. If there's one thing that we took away from our brief experience with the game, it's that while you can go into any situation with guns blazing, there isn't any reason to, because it's all about efficiency. You have an amazing assortment of equipment--such as a highly useful drone (that not only flies and drives, but can also mark targets for instant kills by your squad)--and an assortment of vision modes, so there's no real justification for wasting a single bullet. Ghost Recon is scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 22 with a PC version coming later.
Wait, Ghost Recon turned into a 3rd-person shooter? The biggest mistake they made in Rainbow Six, and this game turned into that mistake...
@Azryth Because sitting in a space capsule or controlling one for the entire game which would take a very very long time to complete is not my idea of a fun time playing video games... oh quick we have drifted off course, we must correct it. Ah there we are all better! MISSION COMPLETE!... no thanks.
@veryfrost Nope, and a stimpack shot by your fellow operator will not make bullet wounds go away, either.
when r you guys gunna get tired of these god damn war games. How about a game simulating the currently theorized missions to mars, which could include actual scientifically accurate gameplay and would teach and inspire our youth to want to be the next intellectual leaders. But yeah, this game looks "totally" original and nothing like the call of duties, medal of honors, rainbow sixes I used to play a decade ago. Do you know that we are actually planing a mission to send a spacecraft to one of Jupiter's moons, Europa? It's not a big deal or anything, we're just gunna launch a spacecraft some 483,680,000 miles to the surface of the moon, where it will transform into a drilling capsule that will attempt to carve its way into the theorized subterranean ocean.. upon which time it will turn into an AI-controlled submarine and explore in search of alien life. But what do I know, I'm just a trained 3D-artist sick and tired of making the same refurbished tank model, gun, soldier, double-D breasted heroine.. haha.
i played a couple of missions of GRAW2, and honestly i didn't like it. i don't have anything against tactical shooters or anything, but it was too slow-paced for my liking, and sometimes you feel so helpless when you're playing. i hope that this one is better.
Why is the PC version not being released along with the console counterparts? I really don't get it... How much difference does it make (in terms of money) by releasing a version later or earlier? Are they afraid of piracy?
this game is far away from the first Ghost Recon or GRAW2...i realy hate health system a la cod with red flashing screen...
Anybody who thinks there's anything tactical about the (modern) Tom Clancy franchise of games has clearly never played the originals... One need merely point out the game breaking cover system that lets you see around corners and above ledges without having to stick your head out. GTFO.... @Libra198002 You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Go take your Ritalin.
looks realy good! i like how they are speeding up shooters it only old guy's who cant keep up and moan about how there to quick. stop playing FPS for a few months and you will get slow! @ luniac- are you sure they dont loose the colour because they no longer a threat???? maybe it's to do with the techy head gear the soldiers are wearing.
@ssdd_again Nah I did play the second, and the first too. I never owned the original xbox but did spent a lot of time round a friends house. The sad truth is that your completely right, the vast majority of online games do have great potential, it's just the minority which ruin it for everybody. I pretty much gave up on Call of Duty due to the folks online. Talking crap down their headsets and playing music, and then camping in the same spot over and over :? I owned the latest Ghost Recon for the PS3 and thought it was 'okay'. My only negative was that everything seemed to happen very far away. Because it was realistic no firefights took place up close. It was a little distanced and slow-paced :(
Yeah I understand what you guys are saying and I agree, but it's like developers are throwing in extra action, speed, distortion and blur effects to please a certain crowd. I guess it's for the best. Games now are becoming "faster" because slower actions and movements are too boring. I could understand that. :) I'm sorry if I sounded bias with that comment.
@Elann2008 To be honest it is not a very revolutionary thing. It is like saying Epic only copied it from real life soldiers.
Rodeo run like Gears of War? Every developer seems to copy off of Epic now. Mass Effect, Future Soldier. Who's next?
The game really looks awesome.By the way he is playing I can assume that the game has the same mechanism as most of the other Tom clancys games I have played like splinter cell. But that would also mean A lot less health...
The first video kinda deceived me but the second video (in the jungle) shows that there are old style Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon traits and features. A good thing that mixes action and planning. I'm looking forward to this game!
i still can't believe GRAW came out so long ago. also, i hate how people blame everything on 'consolization'.
This looks terrible. Thanks for raping another Red Storm Entertainment franchise Ubisoft. Instead of trying to be original in a sea of bland and brainless shooters you walk down the same moronic path of Call of Duty. Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon used to be about using your head before your reflexes. Now we have nothing only derped down consolized garbage. Why can't some independant developer make a proper military shooter? Well I guess there's always ARMA III.
A kill.switch/gears of war like running style, too many things that make the enemy stand out like morons and generally looks too consolized and arcadey like Call of Duty, BF series where its all about twitchy run-n-gun type gameplay without much thinking. I love Splinter Cell, Rainbow Six, Hitman type games so I expected GR to also be in that vein like it was before with good difficulty. This doesn't look like it sadly.
I see nothing new this game brings to the FPS genre. It is just combining elements from previous best sellers in one package. But it doesn't do anything more then that.
can't believe that there is a psp version of this game. i thought they stopped making games for psp and i was even gonna ditch mine.and as for the pc version, it might be FPS as the above videos were of the ps3 and xbox360.
resident evil 6, specs ops: the line, ghost recon:future soldier and mass effect 3.looks like 2012 is a great year for third person shooters.
this looks a lot like the Rainbow Six series to me. Maybe they're starting to move too much in that direction
@warhawk-geeby, guessing you didnt play ghost recon 2 on the original xbox then?, that was a pretty sober hud, and 7 or 8 years after release, its still one of the best multiplayer games Ive played on XBL . Sad fact is that even if Ubisoft nail the multiplayer this time, the trolls, cheats and squeaky little kids that shouldnt even be playing this game will make sure the online is crap for everyone anyway :(.
@montruo hahahahahahahahahahah, hua huaaaahhhahahahahaha whuat? Going invisible (camo) just means that other peoples eyes cant detect you visually, but your still physical, therefor a shadow will still be projected.
Looks pretty distant to me.... how the heck do you do heat seeking bullets, how can a bullet detect the heat source and redirect itself in meer milliseconds. There are no fins, or no thrusters etc.
One thing that I definitely like about shooters like this is that you actually have to think before you take action, as opposed to just running into the area and killing everyone as fast as possible.
I just can't stomach this anymore. If you like this game, more power to you, but this is not Ghost Recon. IMO, this game strays way too far away from its roots. This is the perfect example of a series that radically changes gameplay over a few games but the company clings onto the "Ghost Recon" title in order to boost sales instead of making a new IP. Loved the original Ghost Recon on PC. I love my 360 and I'm no PC elitist but this is sadly a series that has been dulled down in order to reach the massive console shooter market.
im still crossing my fingers, hope the story somehow gets to the point where they showed us footage at E3 2010. thats more like future soldier, and really delivered.
Still looking forward to it. My first was Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, I loved the local splitscreen. Online was fun, certain prone sniping spots under cover.. I also played the first GR on pc.
It looks great. Been waiting forever for a new Ghost Recon PC. Only to have the PC version released even longer after May?! So many release date changes it's sounding like they have had major issues. Hope PC won't be dropped it seems to be a trend for PC games. Will buy if it ever hits PC hopefully won't be a may 2013 release for the PC gamers.
