Escape from Nexus

Who would have ever thought you'd have the chance to ride a Reaver? So the controls are pretty basic: Right Trigger shoots, Left Zooms, Right Bumper cools down your gun, and X turns you 180 degrees (you'll also use a different weapon when facing the rear). Although your flight path is preset, you can move the Reaver around the screen with the control stick--this is how you evade rockets. For this first portion, simply face forward and shoot whatever comes your way.

Defend Your Fellow Gears

After landing, help out the fellow Gears by shooting the roaming enemies. Once clear, prepare for a Brumak to bust through the wall on the left--lay into him quickly.

Fight off the Hydra while Cole look for an Exit

When fighting the Hydra, make sure you're facing behind you at all times. Now there's not a whole lot to this battle: Move around to avoid the inbound rockets, target the turret on top of the Hydra whenever it's activated, and shoot the Hydra in the mouth whenever it gets close. Rinse and repeat.

Ride the Reavers into Jacinto

There's not a whole lot to say, or do, during this segment. Just face backwards the entire way and open fire on the attack reavers. We found moving around spastically to help avoid the incoming fire.

Take Down the Hydra

It's that darn Hydra again. The basics remain the same: Avoid the rockets. However, he's got a few new tricks up his sleeve. First and foremost, he'll sometimes fly around the front and attempt to ram into you--fire a rocket into his ugly face to stop him in his tracks. His second trick is that he'll sometimes grab you from behind--simply shoot the offending arm to be freed. And that's pretty much it--he'll perish after the 3rd rocket to the face.
