5th Cell's Jeremiah Slaczka confronts his critics: namely Kevin VanOrd, Tom Mc Shea, Shaun McInnis, and Chris Watters.
GameSpot GamePlay Episode 5: Hybrid Species
5th Cell Creative Director Jeremiah Slaczka joins Kevin VanOrd, Tom Mc Shea, Chris Watters, and Shaun McInnis in the ultimate face off: developer versus critic. Also, Activision is evil (not really), game testing is hard, and Daikatana still sucks.

Great episode again! It was quite a spectacle to hear Tom read that review to Jeremiah, this is quickly become some really engrossing and enthralling listening!
Just a tip. This is an incredibly difficult feature to find. The main page needs a dedicated link somewhere.
Curious: Why is this podcast under the Xbox 360 section of the website? What happened to the "Culture" links?
@Hvac0120 Hopefully we can get this in the culture link soon; it requires hard coding sadly. It's probably listed under the Xbox 360 because I linked the podcast to the Hybrid gamespace.
Another great episode! Hopefully you guys will nail the formula of the podcast soon enough to start including some listener interaction.
That was great. I hope you get to do another Podcast with Jeff Gerstmann and you can bring up some of these Reveiwer-to-Developer discussions with him. I really like listening his opinion on how reviewers personal opinions should become prominant enough so that readers can understand why a they liked or didn't like a certain part of a game (so readers then have enough information to know if they would think so too).
Would love to see more Developers on this as well - the laid back style really brings out the interesting discussions and seems to make Developers actually say what they want to say.
This Podcast has become, to me, easily the best thing GameSpot has done in years (I just wish it was easier to find them on the website rather than having to go to the RSS feed so I can see others comments).
Good episode. I too liked having the 'down to Earth' discussion with Jeremiah. I too would enjoy more of that in the future.
Also, I love how Jeremiah's sales pitch got drowned out by the music at the end. Ha!
This was the most interesting Gameplay so far. The reviewer/designer interaction was brilliant. I hope you can have another designer (or developer) in a future episode. Perhaps it could be fun if you can get a developer from an open source game (which is neither indie, nor owned by a big company) on board.
Loved this week's episode!!! Having someone from the industry talk about it was very nice, and I also hope Nintendo lets Retro do something of their own, and not just Nintendo's franchises.
You guys restore my faith in game reviewers. You just tell it like it is and dont worry about publishers silencing you for telling the truth. Just like a bunch of guys respecting each others varied opinions on games. Keep it up team!
